mksmhttp://pastecode.com/20660 # Any help here?
Xgcchadmaynard: (...) UNION ALL (...) ORDER BY ...;
chadmaynardXgc: that will break what i am trying to do
XgcSomething like that.
chadmaynardi'll have to rethink the logic
Xgcchadmaynard: That's the problem. I'm not sure what yuo two are trying to do.
ToeBeejason1: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html
chadmaynardXgc: take over the world.
Xgcchadmaynard: You'll need a GROUP BY with that.
UNIONs are too lazy to take over the world.
dcstimmlol
chadmaynarddcstimm: dcstimm: SELECT *, 1 as `primary` FROM `repairs` WHERE 0 NOT IN (`stock1`, `stock2`, `stock3`, `stock4`) UNION SELECT *, 2 as `primary` FROM `repairs` WHERE 0 IN (`stock1`, `stock2`, `stock3`, `stock4`) ORDER BY `primary`, `priority` IN ('yes', 'no'), repair ASC
thats probably bad
i thought you could order by each query in the union
dcstimmchadmaynard, no errors but it didnt give the right order
chadmaynardwhat's wrong?
dcstimmill take screen cap
chadmaynardXgc: seekwill tried to take over the world with ALTER
dcstimmchadmaynard, http://keanmarine.com/example2.txt
mksmSo, does UPDATE work with ORDER BY in MyISAM tables?
chadmaynardALTER government SET president = seekwill
megamxHi guys, I'm trying to get my mysql under control. It gets a ton of queries per secodn to a certain that i have updating even when it's innodb due to my mysql query. (according to mysql) my current query for finding songs that are most popular this week is this: SELECT l.songid, a.artist, l.title, l.dateline, l.views, lv.viewsweek, a.searcha, l.searcht FROM songs AS l, artists AS a, songs_viewsweek AS lv WHERE a.artistid=l.artistid AND
ToeBeechadmaynard: I'm thinking there are some permissions problems with that query
dcstimmchadmaynard, oh wait
chadmaynardToeBee: like?
dcstimm: looks correct to me
dcstimmchadmaynard, I might be wrong let me look at it more closely
megamxMySQL suggested the follwoing: The above is not a query you'd want to run live in an application, it requires the server to process a lot of rows in 3 tables, do a sort operation on a non-indexed field, and then ditch most of the resulting rows. It should be sufficient to run this query periodically in a cron job with the results going into a summary table. The application can then select from that table. I'm just trying to better unde
chadmaynardToeBee: ohhh you mean my joke??
haha

dcstimmchadmaynard, wow! you did it, I was confused by the fact that I put a priority on a repair with 0 parts!
