Like I'm there
specialunderwearHi i've got a database backup, it's the .MYD files and such. How do I make a database out of it again on another server, by just putting those files in the proper folder?
_syphilis_spec: that is a copy of the mysql data directory
specialunderwearindeed
_syphilis_so just replace the directory
specialunderwearThe server is dead so i've got to use these files to create a db on a different server
_syphilis_you want to add the data to an existing server instance?
specialunderweari want to add the data to a different db on a different mysql server
so can i create a db on that server with the same name and then put the data files in or something?
_syphilis_do you want to _create_ the database to add to an existing database?
specialunderwearcreate
_syphilis_okay, you can probably create a new directory and copy the files there. make sure you have the frm, myi and myd for each table
tdd1984how do I log into mysql again?
man I don't know if I like windows and using it with mysql, and etc, its just different
_syphilis_code: DESCRIBE table; or http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/information-schema.html
codeshepherdthanks _syphilis_
tdd1984tda-pcs2.026 tou guys famaliar with these type of files?
the install thing said to burn them, but all files are like this 1-50?
codeshepherdI basically want to replicate on particular table alone in another machine.. so want to export the schema .. I did select table_name, table_type, engine from information_schema.tables where table_name = 'bookmarks'; .. .I guess this is not what i need to do
_syphilis_code: select * from information_schema.columns where table_catalog is null and table_schema='dbname' and table_name='tablename';
you might also use SHOW CREATE TABLE tablename;
codeshepherdthanks _syphilis_
Arepiecan anyone check this please: http://hashphp.org/pastebin?pid=11767

|M|ooIf I want to have a transaction that covers insertions into more then one table, they ALL have to be of type InnoDB, right?
bigfoot-right.
Xgc|M|oo: You should be able to access / insert into any table, regardless of type, but the transaction support will only apply to InnoDB tables.
magnusI have a weird problem. I have MySQL 4.1.11. I am trying to do a select with a group by on a mysqltimestamp where I want to group on the year-month part. I have tried substring and date_format() but it does not work.
Anyone have any idea how to do this group by on a part of a column?
|M|ooI thought so; thanks
magnus: select that part as a separate column and group on it?
magnuslike this: select DATE_FORMAT(timestamp,'%Y-%m') as month, count(X) from TABLE group by month;
It does not work :) Just sums upp all entries
counts all entries even
XgcArepie: Check the PHP API to MySQL. mysql_connect and mysql_close support different parameters: http://php.net/mysql
|M|oohmm ... sorry, I don't know
Xgcmagnus: Show the SQL (pastebin). GROUP BY can operate on almost any acceptable expression, whether it's in the select list or not.
