Shaba2guys what is the differnece between DROP and DELETE?
jbalint!man drop
the_wenchsee http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/drop-database.html
jbalint!man delete
the_wenchsee http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/delete.html
jbalint!man drop table
the_wenchsee http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/drop-table.html
henriquevjbalint: ok. Would you recommend me not to use the following? If so, for what reason? SET @rownum :=0; SELECT * , @rownum := @rownum +1 AS position FROM table...? (take note that I'm using an unique field there)
Shaba2hold on I am still reading it
jbalinthenriquev: nothing i know causes an issue with that. why do you need it?
joeedhhi I'm getting an odd error on trying to insert into a table. The query and error string/number are at http://rafb.net/p/zQDW2x42.html
mycpuisnuralnetis there a way just to drop all indexes?
joeedheh small typo in the paste, use http://rafb.net/p/63mF5c78.html instead
henriquevjbalint: I can't use the int auto incremented value to get the position of the element as it's indepedent of another quantity that determines either if the given unique element makes part of a set of elements or not (there are many sets). And I need to get its position so that I can call 'what is next to it'...
jbalint: well, it's a complicated thing...
mycpuisnuralnettry INSERT INTO `jje27_customers`
joeedh, INSERT INTO 'jje27_customers'
jbalintjoeedh: right. single quotes are string literals, not identifiers
threnodyjoeedh: don't singlequote tablename
mycpuisnuralnetyep
jbalinthenriquev: heh. ok.
joeedhodd. the mysql manual seemed to say otherwise. oh well I'll ignore that.
olinuxhi Shaba2
mycpuisnuralnetis there a DROP ALL INDEXES on table blah ??
joeedhok tried no quotes on table name, same error
mycpuisnuralnetan easy way to do that
jbalintjoeedh: where in the manual?
joeedh: dont quote the field names, they are identifiers also
joeedhoh
actionjoeedh notes, never ever trush phpmyadmin's example query code
joeedhnotes, never ever trush phpmyadmin's example query code
jbalintselect 'a',a from tbl <--- 'a' is a literal, a is a field name for mtbl
joeedhhttp://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/function-resolution.html
jbalintjoeedh: lemme look
actionjoeedh likely is just confused while reading that, or something.
joeedhlikely is just confused while reading that, or something.
jbalintjoeedh: thats.... uh.... not really about quoting identifiers
joeedhas I said, I'm probably just a little confused :)
http://rafb.net/p/zI9qMa32.html new error.
odd. surely it's not complaining because of the quotes around the values?
or is it the space.
actionjoeedh tries removing it
joeedhtries removing it
