chadmaynardslowgo: sorry you cant do that.
you'll have to start it manually or edit the script
slowgotrying to fix an "unathenticated user' problem that randomly kills my server
where in my.cnf should i insert this command/?
if you have a link for "dummies" i will gladly read up on it and not bother you guys very newb to this
chadmaynard i have searched all the locations i can find that describe my problem and they all seem to point to this "--skip-name-resolve" but being a newb ...not sure how to accomplish it
chadmaynardslowgo: you can't just run "mysqld_safe --skip-name-resolve &" ?
(after stopping mysqld with /etc/init.d/mysqld stop_
)
slowgoi just use command line to start stop mysqld
chadmaynardi know
slowgoStarting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql <<< get that and then it freezes
chadmaynardpress enter
slowgothank you so much
now
chadmaynardand rememer you could add that to the script...
EASY!
slowgoif there is a place i can read up on this it would be greatly appreciated
chadmaynardread up on what?
slowgonot sure what you mean about adding to script
chadmaynardare you familiar with shell scripts?
slowgonot much
chadmaynardyou know that /etc/init.d/mysqld is just a shell script right?
slowgojust editing using vim
chadmaynardright. vi /etc/init.d/mysqld
slowgono i did not
ahh ok
chadmaynardit just types what i told you to type a minute ago for you
or something close to it
mine does this: /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --pid-file="$mypidfile" >/dev/null 2>&1 &
if i changed it to: /usr/bin/mysqld_safe --skip-name-resolve --defaults-file=/etc/my.cnf --pid-file="$mypidfile" >/dev/null 2>&1 &
i'd have what you need
slowgoty
bovIs there a way to return the value of an auto_increment PK within an INSERT?
chadmaynardLAST_INSERT_ID()
returns the ID. Your question depends on the details
you can't return it within the insert per say because it's not yet inserted.....
bovI'm using JDBC, but I don't see anything in the API's to return the value.
chadmaynardwell im no JDBC expert. Actually i've never used JDBC
but i am hungry. Goodbye people!
