Matthew___snoyes
the_wenchsome_nice_sql=snoyes(some odd question)
chadmillerAzhi_Dahaka: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/charset-syntax.html ?
Matthew___can you explain to be again on how I would change my db to do what you said
like, would I have to create another table, delete one
I have no clue on how to move all the 1:1 relationship stuff into 1 table
snoyesCREATE TABLE newContent SELECT content JOIN news JOIN articles JOIN whateverThatOtherTableWas;
(with appropriate join conditions, of course)
Matthew___so then I dont need my original content table then?
chadmillerAzhi_Dahaka: probably easiest to dump the database, and edit the dump file to set the database default to something different, and then make sure the tables don't specify charsets explicitly.
Matthew___tbh, I've never used a JOIN clause in a CREATE TABLE statement
snoyesnow's a good time to start.
seekwillYou might be better off using CREATE TABLE LIKE and then INSERT ... SELECT.
snoyes(reason being it will keep the indexes)
seekwill:)
actionsnoyes wonders what happens in that case if both tables have primary keys
snoyeswonders what happens in that case if both tables have primary keys
baboguys, my grants look like this
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON `database`.* TO 'gerard'@'%
but I don't have grant privileges on that table ... ???
how are you supposed to find out what you can an can't do on a database
s/on that table/on that database/
actionsnoyes discovers that you cannot use CREATE LIKE with a JOIN, sheds bitter tears.
snoyesdiscovers that you cannot use CREATE LIKE with a JOIN, sheds bitter tears.
baboanyone ?
seekwillsnoyes: How do you put a JOIN in CREATE LIKE?
How did you WANT to?
snoyesCREATE TABLE newTable LIKE t1 JOIN t2
actionseekwill blinks
seekwillblinks
That was sure a long shot...
snoyesok, what do you recommend for "create a table containing all the columns from t1 and t2"
"including the indexes on each"
seekwillhehe
snoyes"magically accounting for primary keys as needed"
firewiremagic!
psofahow can i execute a statement on condition?
firewirecreate the table yourslef
*self
snoyespsofa: meaning what? IF (something) SELECT stuff? You can only do so within a stored routine.
psofasure
in stored routines
cant find any docs about it
