trembyace_me: oh, i didn't read your problem properly. i thought you were trying to do a query and had the wildcard character wrong.
no idea.
diilbertAtWorkI am trying to do the following query: http://pastebin.us/15376 but I am getting a 'Subquery returns more than 1 row' error. Is there anyway to get all the values in the sub query. such as concatening all the results as a 1 string
Any thoughts would be appreciated ;)
jinkwhat is the query supposed to do?
diilbertAtWorkI have 3 tables. a publications table and a sections and a map (since I can have mutliple publications for each section).
jinkand each publ can be in more than one section?
diilbertAtWorkI want to get all the publications for a particular section to be returned in one query (that is the purpose of the sub query)
jink: yes
jinkdiilbertAtWork: and you want, what?
diilbertAtWorkI want to get all the publications for a particular section to be returned in one query (that is the purpose of the sub query)
icebrianhi all... what can I do if i can't access mysql with root user? I think by mistake I removed "localhost" host for allowed hosts by root, so when I do mysql -u root -p and type the password I get: "Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"
diilbertAtWorkthe sub query grabs the list of publications for a particlar sections and returns them
jinkso, you select 1 section, and you want all publications
diilbertAtWorkbut in the same query I want the section name, description, etc
archivist!tell icebrain about reset root
the_wenchicebrain See http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/resetting-permissions.html
jinkdiilbertAtWork: but you'll get some pubs more than once, if they are in more than one section, right?
icebrianthe_wench: cheers!
diilbertAtWorkright... but I want the name.... it will show up more then once, but it will be associated with the right section
jinkselect p.name, s.name, s.description from publications p left join pubsectionmap m on (p.id=m.pub_id) left join sections s on (m.section_id=s.id) order by s.name, p.name;
diilbertAtWorkI should be able to get what I want out of that THANKS!
MrRioHey, Is there a way to have SELECT queries stop if they take longer than say 30 seconds?
I've changed the ip of my host, and one mysql user can't login
I've tried setting the password, but everything (running the client with the non-root user) fails
However, using root and the mysql user (no pass right now from localhost), no problem
Arepiehello.. where can i view all the info for mysql datatype and how big is every data allowed in a datatype?

omgs_workWhat can be happening in mysql 4.0.18, that only root can connect using the mysql client?
I mean, from the system shell
If I type mysql -u <whatever> -p, as root it works, but not as user
I get ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (13)
