XrMb2sjrx: you may set a max-log-size
SJrXokay
XrMb2max_binlog_size = 100M
and for example: expire_logs_days = 2
ToeBeewell do you need the logs? they are usually used for streaming to a slave DB
XrMb2and you know how to delete them manually, don't you? don't use rm /var/log/mysql/*
SJrXyeah
I don't need them at all
ToeBeeyeah, just turn it off
XrMb2doesn't mysql need them if databases are damaged to recover theM?
SJrXhmmmm
ToeBeenot sure. didn't think so
SJrXI set them down to 50M max, and 2 days
XrMb2that's why i haven't disabled logging here yet
how much disk space have you got (when there are no mysql-logs atm)?
ToeBeeah well kind of
they can be used to roll a database forward after restoring from an older backup
and of course for replication to another server
SJrXthe disk is only 2 GB
I don't really care
there is nothing particularly useful in the DB.
XrMb2did you enable database-staticstics?
ToeBeeah well up to you :)
XrMb2i'm not even sure, if this increases the log
but i'm using etch and my logs are consuming about 5GB of storage space withing 10 days (which si the limit)
SJrXnah its fine now.
XrMb2okay :>
TTT_TravisI only have access to a hard drive with an installation of mysql and all of the users/tables etc. how can I get them to the new installation without booting off the old drive?
_RainMkr_TTT_Travis: cp
TTT_Traviscp?
like copy
which files?
_RainMkr_the entire data directory
ToeBeeprobably the config file
TTT_Travis_RainMkr_ where is this stored?
I'm on linux
_RainMkr_TTT_Travis: /usr/local/mysql/data ?
ToeBeecheck the old config file. /var/lib/mysql is a likely candidate
TTT_Travis/usr/local/mysql/data doesn't exist
/var/lib/mysql does
