slyrusgigamonkey: the executive summary is short and sweet. lisp forms that are translated into xhtml/latex/pdf
pkhuong: rif and aj rossini and I were working on a CFFI-based clsr-alike called RCLG. Personally, I like the gcc-xml-ffi approach even though it's sb-alien specific.
pkhuong--bah, portability ;)
g32k1Good afternoon people
ceinhi
g32k1Jeje i started looking for a job and can only hear a thing, "java", I hate. Do you guy think that awful trend is gonna last? :'(
cein: hi
ceinwell, it's not going to be replaced by lisp if that's what you're thinking
but i think eventually something else will usurp it
g32k1cein: i know. But java is pretty awful.
ceinhow so?
it's not my favorite language, but it gets things done
ZhivagoI'm hoping that .net will work out, and these problems will go away.
g32k1I can it too, but some stuff like only single inheritance irritate me
pjbWell, java is perhaps slightly better than PHP...
g32k1All languajes have their advantajes, but i think it's a pretty bad idea to use the same languaje for al purpouses
And since you have a lot of demand there's a lot of offer, so get a good paid job is even harder
ZhivagoI'm very glad that java is popular
g32k1really, why?
beachgood morning
g32k1morning
meowarriorwho ever wrote CFFI deserves a big chocolate chip cookie
it's so straight foward
g32k1farewell
slyrusmorning beach
beachhey slyrus; what's up?
slyrusoh, not much. a little pork belly & fennel with a nice williams-selyem pinot
beachsounds nice!
slyrusindeed. if I were over this cold I'd probably be enjoying the WS even more... oh well.
and you?
beachreading AMOP mostly
slyrusa good read
beachindeed
slyrusI've been avoiding the more arcane tomes of the PCL source
beachI started looking into them the other day, and they look pretty strange in places.
Plus, the version I got has some code for machines or OSes that no longer exist or at least are irrelevant.
And I am getting more and more convinced that caller-side specialization is needed to make things very fast.
I mean, how often do you see (defmethod foo ((bar bar)) (baz bar)) where baz is another GF, so we have some information about the argument when we call baz.
I am sure (say) McCLIM is full of that kind of code.
damn computer has started crashing regularly
