_3bC-c C-t
whaleofconfusioneh my undo info was discarded
hum wait a minute
no, I didn't want to clear the entire buffer, dang it
I just had a long output that was making it difficult to scroll up to see things I had typed before it
how can I get rid of such outputs, without clearing the entire buffer
_3bi usually just delete them by hand
luiswhaleofconfusion: use C-k then
whaleofconfusionby "output" I meant specifically, the REPL output
it's not 1 line it was thousands of lines
the undo buffer was abt 3 megs, I can't do it by hand
luiswhaleofconfusion: C-u 1000 C-k
whaleofconfusionah
_3bC-space, move to other end, C-w
whaleofconfusionwell ok, still not optimal
luiswhaleofconfusion: perhaps you need to learn about M-> too
whaleofconfusion: or read the Emacs tutorial :)
whaleofconfusionthe emacs tutorial hardly says anything
_3blooks liek possibly C-c C-o is what you want
action_3b needs to remember that one
_3bneeds to remember that one
luis_3b: ah, nice, didn't know about that one either
whaleofconfusionahh thanks a lot _3b
_3bi usually try to avoid working in the repl though, so clearing the whole thing is usually OK
whaleofconfusionahh but it only works if you think of it right after
you can't clear previous outputs, just the most recent one
ModiusTrying to understand DefMethod. If I (defmethod blah....) in package A, then (defmethod blah.....) in package B. . . . I can't get that to work. Are all DefMethods meant to exist in the same package?
(FWIW one params to A's Defmethod was a class in package A)
luiswhaleofconfusion: you can delete older ones, but it will delete subsequent ones too
rahulModius: code is not in packages
froydnjyou also need to make sure that a::blah and b::blah are the same
rahulModius: symbols are
froydnjsymbol-wise
whaleofconfusionyeah if you put your cursor on it I see
also it deletes your own input as well as the intermediate outputs
I'd like a convenient way to maintain multiple REPL's and to split another REPL off of the one I have so it has all the same bindings, and merge it later
nyefDo you want a pony as well?
whaleofconfusionso if I'm testing a particular function I could have a buffer just for doing that
rahulno, he NEEDS a pony
pkhuongwhaleofconfusion: you could also only use the repl for testing.
whaleofconfusionwell that's what it's for, yes, I mean to separate out testing of one function from testing of another
