REPLeffectI went from DSL to dialup :-(
krunarwhat far out part of the world do you live in?
REPLeffectIf you want to live in the country...
... you make certain sacrifices.

krunar:)
REPLeffectyup.
krunaryeah
Zhivagothe US has relatively poor broadband penetration
krunarThey got pisspoor telephone cables too
therefore no DSL
REPLeffectI can get broadband here. But it is too expensive.
Zhivagowell, being an empire is expensive
krunar:)
REPLeffectI won't pay that much and be capped at 5 meg traffic both ways a month.
nyefREPLeffect: More than $50/month?
REPLeffect$70
krunar5 meg?

nyefDare I ask which provider?
REPLeffectOnly one available -- Speednet
(they suck too)
very bad reputation.
nyefYeah, that's typical. Always a monopoly.
REPLeffectAnother reason to not pay out the nose.
So, I'm living with it.
krunarAt my mother we pay like $40 for 24/1 megabit unlimited, and at my dad I got fiber for $30 100/10 megabit unlimited.
Zhivagoanother reason for monopolies to be owned by the government
REPLeffectMy DSL was pretty nice, and 5 static IPs.
Zhivagoand run not-for-profit
REPLeffectIf I lived in any decent sized town it would be a different story.
