Simeon_HI'm training to be an electronics engineer
but I need to know basic C and assembly
Gentlewolsni: well, for some time I used kate with the split text-editor/konsole setting, but still, clicking the konsole part, then typing "make" takes more time than pressing F8
Simeon_Hby basic I mean low level
Renzeassembly is easy if you can break down problems into very small parts in your mind
actionAmyRose uses vim a ton
AmyRoseuses vim a ton
peakerwolsni: well I am used from xemacs to features like jumping to var declarations from header files and files away easily, and open-file dialogs with completions, one-key-away file finds, stuff that kate can't offer
Gentle: does it have all the "intellisense" stuff?
JucatoRenze: that's what pen and paper are for. less mind-space usage :D
Simeon_HI can do K-mapping :D
and convert circuits to NAND logic
peakerGentle: is it reasonably easy to have a dark background in kdevelop? :)
RenzeJucato: never needed to do that, and I've written whole programs in 680x0 assembler
wolsniPeaker: kdevelop does decent suggesting for C++, although I'm only comparing it to eclipse+CDT
JucatoRenze: full GUI? :D
RenzeJucato: no, BBS utilities
GentlePeaker: sure, the texteditor is fully themeable
Jucatoaaah
RenzeJucato: this was a LONG time ago
peakerwolsni: can you jump to any declaration and find uses of a variable and stuff like that?
JucatoBBS = BBullS***? :D
j/k
wolsniPeaker: it has a ctags based search
peakercool
wolsniplus a little frontend to grep for when that's just not good enough
Simeon_HBBS ftw
Jucatoanyone knows of a good (preferrably light and fast and already has KOffice installed) KDE Live CD distro that has support for persistence? MEPIS? PCLOS? any other takers?
RenzeJucato: the app in C compiled to about 8k... in asm it assembled to 600bytes
peakerI think that emacs's "ido" package could be a nice addition to KDE (a way to browse the disk and open files with the absolute minimum of keystrokes, including finding files and stuff like that)
Simeon_HI remember when my brother got duke nukem 3d off a friends bbs
JucatoRenze: so I've heard :)
actionSimeon_H <3 BBS
Simeon_H<3 BBS
Jucato(regarding the larger executable output)
actionJucato observes that the Kubuntu Live CD, even with persistence, is not a good Live CD for semi-constant usage...
Jucatoobserves that the Kubuntu Live CD, even with persistence, is not a good Live CD for semi-constant usage...
RenzeJucato: sssslllloooowwww
JucatoRenze: and biiiiig
actionJucato blames OO.o
Jucatoblames OO.o
Simeon_HI has it installed
DSL makes a good live CD
actionwolsni thought that was a weird emoticon for a second
