twbAre there any KHTML-based web browsers for GNU/Linux *other than* Konqueror?
wolsnikind of the opposite of dolphin?
Lanken^^
Renzeor the complement of dolphin
Lankenis khtml highly dependent on kde?
(libraries, I mean)
mrignsLanken: dont think so
safari does use it too
but there are afaik no other linux browsers using it
Renzeno, safari uses webkit, which is a fork of khtml that strips out all the kde/qt deps
mrignsbut reminds me of konq being darn slow on one of my pcs
twbAny idea why? I mean, there are like 14 different Gecko-based browsers
Renzebecause konqueror is good enough? ;)
twbIt seems kinda tightly integrated into the whole KDE environment, which I don't run.
wolsniyou can run konqueror from a different window manager
twbwolsni: I realize that.
mrignsits rendering engine is still faster than gecko
twbmrigns: that's why I was interested.
mrignsbut on one of my pc :(
twbwolsni: for example, whenever I close filelight it causes the KDE sound server to use 100% of the CPU, and respawn itself whenever I kill -9 it.
actionRenze hasn't used artsd for over three years
Renzehasn't used artsd for over three years
twbI haven't run konq lately but ISTR having similar problems.
Renze: yeah, Debian is kinda backwards :-)
actionRenze hugs Gentoo
Renzehugs Gentoo
nethensonhello
actionJucato wonders what filelight has to do w/ arts though...
Jucatowonders what filelight has to do w/ arts though...
Renzenothing at all, afaik
Jucatohm...
twbNothing at all, which is why it's such a silly problem.
Jucatoah maybe... just maybe... it's because Filelight, prior to version 1.0 crashes on exit
nethensonI am looking for a program that will put a warning next to the clock (system notification area?) when my ethernet cable is unplugged.
Jucatomight be trying to startup a sound notification or something..
wolsninethenson: knetworkmanager, knemo
Jucatoknetstats?
twbJucato: probably
mrignsdoes anybody perpahps know some konq tweaks like setting the cachesize on pi ? ;P
twbI don't want a file browser or startup sounds or blinking eye-candy. I just want a KHTML canvas and some back/forward key bindings.
Renzetwb: write one
twbBleh
Renzetwb: you could probably do it with python and pykde
