JucatoSho_: tried seeking back and forth?
Sho_Jucato: yup
actionSho_ wishes people wouldn't use Theora though ... it's such a crappy codec
Sho_wishes people wouldn't use Theora though ... it's such a crappy codec
Jucatoah wait... hm...
ForgeAusthats ogg right?
Sho_ForgeAus: yup
JucatoI gues because I'm playing a file from the cd rom
Ogg Theora for videos
ForgeAustheora is video and vorbis is audio
Sho_yup
Jucatoogg really sounds like one of those sounds that cavemen make in cartoons...
ForgeAusso I take it vorbis is built into theora?
it is Jucato
hanna-barbara?...
anyway Cartoon network has one, and I think I remember seeing his cartoon...
Sho_ForgeAus: Ogg is a container format, it can contain audio tracks in Vorbis and video tracks in Theora, among others
ForgeAus: Similar to AVI
ForgeAusbut I think its probably spelt og
rather than ogg
Jucatowth?!?! MPLayer doesn't recognize the file!?!?
ForgeAusothers?
what others can there be?
Sho_ForgeAus: FLAC, for example
ForgeAusis subtutles or something on an other track?
Sho_It can embed subtitles as well afair, yes
ForgeAusFLAC free lossless audio compression?
Sho_yup
and Speex
ForgeAushangon I don't get it... isn't ogg the compression format... ?
Sho_no
purplepenguinogg-vorbis is the compression, and ogg is the container
Sho_ForgeAus: Ogg is a file format, it can contain data of different types created with different means and for different purposes, such as Vorbis, Theora, FLAC or Speex
JucatoSho_: what version of kmplayer do you have?
ForgeAusso you mean an FLAC inside an ogg container?.... but whats the point when vorbis is already audio compression? that just means 2 diff sorts of compressed audio tracks?
purplepenguinYou can put flac in ogg, I think, but I don't see why you'd want to do that
Sho_ForgeAus: Vorbis is a "lossy" codec, i.e. it reduces file size by throwing out data
ForgeAus: It tries to be smart about what it throws out, namely things people wouldn't hear
purplepenguinIt is higher quality than LAME at low bitrate
Jucatook this is sort of hopeless... :(
Sho_ForgeAus: FLAC, by comparison, compresses without throwing away data, called "lossless"
