donscan't we just say "Dont record changes to Config.hs" ?
thedwarddarcs makes that very easy
donsright.
Gwernbtw, I've been meaning to ask: I understand Xinerama headers are needed to compile, but when you're actually running the binary, they aren't needed, right?
sjanssenI can't honestly say that I'll never accidentally record and push one of my private changes to Config.hs
Gwern: the headers aren't needed, but the library is
donshmm. how do your settings differ from the defaults?
sjanssendons: ctrl-space to gmrun
jcreighah, so somebody *does* use gmrun. :)
donsi'd be inclined to invoke authors privledge then. (i know what I said earlier ;). just stick gmrun in there.
since your Config.hs should be the default.
sjanssenI understand ctrl-space is really needed for emacs?
jcreighhmm.
donswe could provide some suggested emacs bindings in a comment
Gwernsjanssen: ok. another question, is xinerama library necessary for running?
stepcutsjanssen: yes, you need it to mark the beginning of a region (for copy and paste, etc)
Gwerneven if you aren't using it?
actionGwern seconds stepcut. I was seriously wondering how emacs broke when I wasn't looking
Gwernseconds stepcut. I was seriously wondering how emacs broke when I wasn't looking
sjanssenGwern: yes, X11-extras links against it and calls it at runtime
jcreighGwern: yes. but if you have the headers, I imagine you have the library as well.
stepcutemacs uses everything, changing Mod1 to Mod4 is probably a reasonable suggestion
Mod4= windows key
donsGwern: nope. Xinerama libs arne't needed at runtime
Gwernjcreigh: I installed them just for playing around with Xmonad. I don't really want it
dons: I'm glad to hear that
sjanssenGwern: if you want to eliminate the xinerama dependency, make it configurable in X11-extras
jcreighdons: err...what?
sjanssendons: yes, they're needed at runtime
donswell, maybe they are, now I look into X11R6/lib a bit more.
but if my old openbsd systme has them, then so does everyone
actionsorear continues plotting lambdabot7
sorearcontinues plotting lambdabot7
Gwernsjanssen: understood
sjanssendo any xmonad contributors use alternate keybindings?
jcreighI have modMask = winkey, but that's it.
sjanssendons: do you?
donsnope. i just use the defaults
jcreighBTW, did an xmonad ML ever materialize?
donsah reminds me.
actiondons checks
donschecks
i'll have to look into this tomorrow. bit busy now.
