dancordo any (all?) of the high level gui libraries get you like a list of all windows and the ability to move/resize them

soreardancor: look at the mailing list - there is a project to create a full X11 Haskell Binding directly from the protocol spec
dancor: which is easier than it sounds, since the protocol spec is machine readable :)
if you can do it with Network.Socket, you'll be able to do it with XHB
