gentoonoobi mounted but how do i get in the kernel from livecd
root___=)
[R]why are you going into the kernel fro mthe cd to begin with if its jsut your network that doenst work
SwifTgentoonoob: you don't (well, there's a faq about it somewhere on the site), you build your kernel yourself
gentoonoobi am not sure
SwifTgentoonoob: if you use genkernel it'll create a kernel that matches the LiveCD kernel
EmoDirklspci should give you info on the card you have
root___what processor type do i have to select in kernel config menu, if i use a core 2 duo and don't want 64bit?
core 2/newer xenon?
gentoonoobi dont see ethernet when i lspci
EmoDirkHeres a core 2 duo .config http://gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Apple_MacBook/Configuration_Files#Kernel_.config
[R]root___: you need to use a 32bit cd with a 32bit stage
root___: if you used that... than just select the processor you have
root___ok, thanks :)
MarkT-Is there jogl for gentoo?
root___core 2 = core 2 duo?
[R]core 2 = core 2
core 2 duo is a specific kind of core 2
root___there's not core 2 duo in the menu
[R]thats cuz core 2 duo is just a core 2 with 2 cores
you just need to make sure yo uselect SMP
ChicagoWhat do I need to change so that a regular user (me) can mount my ipod? I have /dev/sdb which is the Ipod... and I made a directory for it owned by me... and I mounted that directory... but my user doesn't have the permissions.... Is it purposeful that the iPod has a unix like filesystem and that I'd need to be root to mount it? If so... should I use the IPod in a chroot?
root___ok
[R]Chicago: you mounted it as your user?
ChicagoI mounted it as root.
[R]thats why your user can't access it
put the user option in fstab
then your user can mount it
Chicagodoh... I should know these things.
I'll check it out.
