NY Lost Funds

marienzDaryl_: read that, it's a hassle but it's probably less of a hassle than a reinstall
FieldyArtumi: dunno. they're on a win system... i'm not about to walk them through it, but i think it's on my side as an app that has recorded off the mic before no longer picks up anything... yet i hear myself in the headphones
mattmattehArtumi, what is the other machine ?
Daryl_I looked at that marienz, thank you, but I was still unable to find a recommended chost
ArtumiFieldy are you sure it's not the mike?
marienzDaryl_: i686-pc-linux-gnu is almost always the right one to move to if you're currently on i386-pc-linux-gnu
Artumisometimes they go bad, especially if you stretch the cables
mic*
Daryl_ok, thats what I changed it to. thanks
kentinI have a 32 bits architecture
FieldyArtumi: if it was, i wouldn't hear myself through my headphones when i talk :)
Artumiyou hear yourself on the headphones though, maybe your mixer is sending the wrong channels
Fieldythe mic is built into the system (a laptop)
marienzDaryl_: if you have an amd64 you shouldn't be using i386-pc-linux-gnu to begin with, and if you have something that's not an i686 you probably know :)
Artumiinstead of taking it as a mic input maybe its just taking it as an auxillary mixer in line?
did you try plugging the mic in other audio in jacks?
Daryl_yeah, I wasn't sure if there were processor specific chosts
like in the march setting
mattmattehArtumi, am i done trying to help ?
Daryl_I mean, it's not an alpha or anything :)
Artumimatt, which machine.
matt its just the 2, the debian 100mhz and the obsd-osx 300mhz g4
SkunkySilentSounD: what's uname -a say?
Artumii can toss gentoo on the g4 if itll speed things up.. as i said
mattmattehArtumi, well, you said there was another machine, and i asked which one. you didnt answer. i thought you only had 2
JanisBmarienz, new strace with gcc-config 2 output the exactly same result, the only thing that chages - addresses, e.g. 0xb7efd000 -> 0xb7f1b000, but IMO addresses aren't important
Daryl_gentoo so far uses less resources than any other distro of unix / linux I've used
with the same settings
mattmattehArtumi, gentoo on the g4 will do nothing to help get gentoo on an x86
davoanyone ever had trouble, (or even tried) to use yahoo 360 in firefox?
SkunkyArtumi: the sticking point is finding SOMETHING you can chroot from
KurlonDaryl_: Have you tried Net/Free BSD?
actionmattmatteh has no idea what yahoo 360 is
mattmattehhas no idea what yahoo 360 is
marienzArtumi: I'd roughly just follow the install guide, using debian wherever it says livecd, and either teaching debian to access the network or swapping the drive wherever it needs network access before you reboot into an installed system. Probably postponing a few steps until after the first reboot if you can't get debian's networking going. Will probably need a 2.6 kernel in debian though.
PhenaxWhat the heck.. I'm trying to play my good ol' nethack with numpad on, and the numpad now moves my mouse
Daryl_freebsd was awful, kurlon. openbsd put it to shame, didn't try net
Artumimarienz the chroot problem then?
Daryl_openbsd was the next best to gentoo
DraconxPhenax, shift+numlock both enables and disables that behaviour.
ArtumiDaryl nod thats why im on obsd
