marienzJanisB: or are you saying /usr/i486-pc-linux-gnu/gcc-bin/4.1.1/gcc ends up re-execve-ing itself? Can you pastebin some more?
JanisByes, the bottom is the same, after line "read(3, "\177ELF\1\1\1\0\0\0\...." it loops
muralitohello?
Artumimatt been there done that.. thats easy... but is there a way i can do that to put the install files on?
muralitosomeone there?
marienzJanisB: ahh, that helps, sec...
muralito: yes?
KurlonArtumi: Er, why can't a ppc chroot?
marienzmuralito: you need to provide more information before anyone can answer.
ArtumiKurlon because the chroot files are for x86..
marienzArtumi: then you've grabbed the wrong stage tar :P
Artumiand if i chroot from a ppc with kernel for ppc and no emulation of x86 in kernel binary level ..
then i wont be able to do anything with the files for the other machine
actionKurlon is lost
Kurlonis lost
why is x86 involved at all?
mattmattehArtumi, you can put any files on there you want, you just can not run code on it from the ppc box. so you can actually start the install right up to the chroot
Artumimatt ok.
HedgeMageSo, dumb question... is it possible to have mozilla-firefox and mozilla-firefox-bin both installed at once?
Artumimatt but .. is that enough?
mattmattehArtumi, you have another hard drive there ?
Artumiedgemage sort of, but why would you want to
marienzArtumi: if that box is a ppc, use a ppc stage.
Artumimarienz THIS box is the ppc
SkunkyHedgeMage: i think i had both emerged once, but I don't know which one actually ran
muralito????????
Artumithe one with obsd/osx is
mattmattehmarienz, i think use the ppc to install an x86.
Artumimatt bingo!
marienzArtumi: ahh, the ppc has working net access, the x86 does not?
Artumibingo! again
mattmattehArtumi, do you have an extra hard drive there ? you were asking about a second ide device ?
marienzArtumi: heh, I'm slow but I get there eventually :) you can download and untar the x86 stage using the ppc, but you probably can't make it bootable.
HedgeMageHrm. I need to be running bin but to escape dependency hell with gnucash (which wants yelp which wants mozilla-firefox) I'm considering sucking it up and installing the non-bin version (which doesn't work with all my ffx extensions, which is why I run bin)
Artumimatt i have the hd in the debian box, and two plugs on my osx box
i have before, and can easily again, attach the debian hd to the osx box
KurlonAh, so drive from the x86 box is plugged into the ppc box, ppc is booted into Debian, and used to wipe/prep the x86 drive, yes?
Artumiand copy over needed files.
HedgeMageI need to make sure I'm running -bin, though
marienzArtumi: you *might* be able to get there by retrieving the x86 stage3 and kernel distfiles, swapping the hd back into the x86, chrooting in through debian and compiling the kernel from there, but it's a bit of a hassle.
Artumikurlon no. x86 box plugged into ppc box, ppc is booted in obsd right now, can change.. , and used to copy files to already prepped x86 drive!`
