shardz | forgot the .html -- I'm copying by hand Boohbah: [R] : --^ |
goodwill | [R]: doing taht does nto show me that pciutils have network-cron zlib possible flags |
Boohbah | shardz: looks like your nvidia wrapper libraries don't agree with glibc |
cruxeternus | goodwill: That's correct... the current, stable pciutils has no USE flags. |
goodwill | http://gentoo-portage.com/sys-apps/pciutils |
shardz | Boohbah: ok, any idea how to fix it? |
goodwill | hmmm oh I see thank you my bad |
cruxeternus | goodwill: Looks like unstable has them. :) |
goodwill | yeah my bad :) |
Boohbah | shardz: does /usr/src/linux point to your current kernel sources? |
shardz | Boohbah: yes |
Boohbah | shardz: try 'emerge nvidia-drivers' |
shardz | Just to bring it up, I had glibc errors a few weeks ago |
Boohbah | shardz: what did you do to fix glibc errors? |
shardz | Boohbah: but I managed to get it fixed, can't remember how. |
HedgeMage | If package-1.2.3 exists both in the regular portage tree and my portage overlay, how do I tell emerge that I prefer the one in the overlay? With no intervention it seems to prefer the regular portage tree |
[R] | HedgeMage: it always uses the overlay over the tree |
shardz | Amarok didn't like glibc for some reason, I think I ended up upgrading gcc and glibc to something, or something along those lines. memory is a little shaky.. |
cruxeternus | HedgeMage: If it's picking from the main tree, then the overlay versions must be keyword or package masked. |
shardz | Boohbah: should I run eselect again? |
HedgeMage | Thanks, I'll peek at it and see what's up :) |
Boohbah | shardz: could try eselect opengl set nvidia |
shardz | right |
Boohbah | shardz: what versions of glibc were those? you can check in /var/log/emerge.log or use genlop |
mx-zoom | what's the cmd to gain access to all the text displayed during boot? right from kernel init |
shardz | Boohbah: eh, nope. didn't work |
Boohbah | shardz: if you do a major glibc upgrade you have to emerge -e world |
shardz | Boohbah: ehh, I think it was just gcc I upgraded |
rullie | I've marked FireFox and Evince as trouble programs. They like to lag my beryl and system in general. I know firefox is just a bad boy. But can anyone confirm the problem with evince? |
shardz | Boohbah: So, yeah, still no-go on x though |
Boohbah | rullie: i actually fixed that by turning off beryl :) |
rullie | Boohbah, i remember evince screwing with me back in my fluxbox days |
shardz | Boohbah: hmm-- I can start X when I comment out the glx line |
logik3x | Boohbah: the emerge is working now... if it nothing goes wrong youre my hero |
