nOvEdit's not, essentially
xdo0bxn0vEd, hahaha.. where u stuck at ?
nOvEd!! The root block device is not specified or undetected.
Please specify a device to boot, or "'shell" for a shell...
brianwnOvEd: the minimal install cd requires you to enter all the command line entries to install gentoo
nOvEd: that is from booting the install cd?
nOvEdcorrect
xdo0bxnOvEd, u getting that on LiveCD boot or after installing the system and booting into it for the first time ?
nOvEdliveCD boot and minimal boot
phoenixxis -mfpmath=sse2 or -mfpmath=sse3 a valid CFLAG?
xdo0bxnOvEd, strange, what kind of disks do you have on the box ?
brianwphoenixx: march=nocona already stes those
nOvEdlet me see
phoenixxbrianw, okay, but those mfpmath statements are correct? Cause the gcc manual said that only sse and 387 were valid, which I thought didn't make sense
brianw, okay, but those mfpmath statements are correct? Cause the gcc manual said that only sse and 387 were valid, which I thought didn't make sense
brianwphoenixx: man gcc
phoenixxbrianw, I did that, but it is kind of confusing me
nOvEdxdo0bx, i've got a western digital 4.3 gb ::snicker::
brianwphoenixx: search for i386 and x86-64 Options
xdo0bxnOvEd, i am assuming IDE, right ?
nOvEdif you think it would serve me well, i have a spare drive with some extra capacity lying around
yep
xdo0bxnOvEd, try entering /dev/hdc at that point..
brianwphoenixx: if you want to know if the proc supports sse3, grep pni /proc/cpuinfo
nOvEdok just a minute
xdo0bxnOvEd, i have never seen that error, usually LiveCD boots fine...
brianwnOvEd: do any linux livecd's boot?
phoenixxbrianw, okay, thanks
brianwnOvEd: because you can use any livecd to install gentoo
xdo0bxnOvEd, check that the arch for the LiveCD is right, try dling it again ... in my 30 something gentoo installs i never saw that crap... not that i have that much exp
nOvEdi haven't made any others...
am i using the wrong arch?
or rather, can i even run a current version on a celeron 533?
(using x86)
brianwnOvEd: yes
nOvEd: even i686
joker_-_I've been searching but can't find any working solutions I can't get *flash* to play with *sound*... Any idea?
