RiverRat: that should be ok right?

cambazzhello, I just installed gentoo with genkernel and grub, and I am having a boot problem. namely: it says activating mdev, determining root device and then block device /dev/sda3 is not a valid root device. I have done this thousand times, but I have never got this error
any ideas?

gentoo is probably my favorite linux distribution;
ShaftoFieldy, If i want to add my own mirrors to make.conf like you did, do i just use like http://gentoo.virginmedia.com or is it that with /distfiles?
invsblduckbut i haven't used it in a few years
portage bit me pretty bad back in the day

Shaftocd_rom, umm sounds scary!
dan20Did someone say earlier that 3ware has been a good choice for them with regards to RAID controllers?
RiverRatDraconx|Laptop: I'm not fond of it either but ddd is slightly less painful than the raw gdb.
cd_romShafto: ls /boot
defacedan20 - 3ware or a "real" adaptec
cd_romRiverRat: i thought you were the man for console! ;)
dan20deface: Yeah :)
Shaftocd_rom, http://rafb.net/p/Arnu4k10.html
jrdittmannHow do a prevent my bridged network interface (br0) from overwriting my /etc/resolve.conf file?
Draconx|Laptopjrdittmann, interfaces don't overwrite files.
RiverRatcd_rom: Liking the command line and liking tedium are two entirely different things.
defacejrdittman - add nodns to your conf.d/net line for that interface
jrdittmanndeface - excellent, I'll give that a try
