krondorljmbsvicetto: Hmmm.. it needs to be running and if a drive fails email someone of the status..
purplesuiside i cant really correct you as i dont know really that it works that way
jmbsvicettokrondorl: If you're doing snmp monitoring, you might be able to get that info
krondorljmbsvicetto: Ok thanks I'll look into that one also..
jmbsvicettokrondorl: You might be interested in nagios and friends
suisidepurple: have you even tried disabling the VESA-powersave using the aforementioned command? if you have, and it didn't help I'll take your word for it
tmrpurple: Have you tried 'xset s off' and xset -dpms'?
Frigolituhm... i've just downloaded stage3 and portage and everything, and i'm trying to emerge vixie-cron syslog-ng and ccache, but whatever i'm trying to emerge it all blows up on touch: setting times of /var/tmp/portage/<package>/.unpacked: Function not implemented
purplesuiside
i tried it
but i get some crazi error
just a sec
krondorljmbsvicetto: we run nagios already, but I didn't see anything that would tell me when a drive fails. Plus the Nagios is running on a cmpletely different server..
zhangsofthi, I installed dhcpcd (emerge dhcpcd), and add config_eth0=( "dhcp" )
dhcp_eth0="nodns nontp nonis"
purplesuiside i tried it and put it in .xinitrc but X doesnt get up with that line in .xinitrc
jmbsvicettokrondorl: If there isn't already a plugin for that, you must be able to tell it how to do it
purpleit says something like cannot (un)set blah, blah
AndyCRhi
suisidepurple: I don't think you need to put it there, run it only once, but that's just my five cents
zhangsofthi, I installed dhcpcd (emerge dhcpcd), and add config_eth0=( "dhcp" ) dhcp_eth0="release nodns nontp nonis" to /etc/conf.d/net, but when the system booted, it always report "no dhcp client installed"
my eth0 is SiS 900
purplesuiside i read that workaround on wiki and it says to put it there to be permanent
suisidepurple: ok, nevermind me then =)
General_TsoHello, I'm getting some errors regarding PCI during boot: http://rafb.net/p/6kDPM516.html. I think I need to tweak my kernel settings. Would someone be willing to help me find what's awry?

EthernIs there a way to fetch kde-meta source first and then compile it?
dwellshereca

jmbsvicettoEthern: emerge -avf kde-meta
zhangsoftcould someone tell me why my dhcp client not work?
suisidezhangsoft: can you run dcpcd from a shell instead?
renihsdwellshere, put yourself into plugdev (automount stuff) and maybe cdrom?
groups
suisides/dcpcd/dhcpcd
jmbsvicettozhangsoft: Make sure you have the latest udev and updated the config files
UQlevdwellshere: your user must be a member of cdrom, dvd, dvdrw, audio
dwellshererenihs, thanks, I'd tried all that but plugdev
renihs, thanks : )
