kojiroSup3rkiddo: you can install gcc3 as well :)
Sup3rkiddo: just don't make it your main gcc
Shaftoedje2, Its the password for localhost.domain or something
edje2Shafto: i think after the kernel=/boot/vmlinuz part
PulsewidthSup3rkiddo: gcc is installed slotted, so there's no problem having both
kojiroSup3rkiddo: (keep an eye on gcc-config before you build anything else after you build qemu)
PulsewidthSup3rkiddo: use gcc-config to switch to the gcc3 profile for the qemu emerge, then switch back to gcc4
Sup3rkiddokojiro: making it main as in the sense changing the sylink..or is there a kewl conf file somewhere
Pulsewidth: ack..
actiondwellshere trawls through 2712 lines of manual page, thanks kojiro : )

Shaftoedje2, Just boots up then at after loading modules, etc. asks for the login and password again, for localhost.localdomain
kojiro, How do i go about that?
nr_zmy current windows machine doesnt receive any ip at all from the other linux box
kojiroShafto: huh?
Shaftokojiro, the thing about booting from livecd and chrooting, will it allow me to add users?
edje2Shafto: and you did put init=/bin/sh on the grub line? that is odd
kojiroShafto: that's all documented in the first pages of the handbook
Every Gentoo user should know how, or how to find out, how to chroot his box
mzbot: faq handbook
mzbotkojiro: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/index.xml
edje2Shafto: and pressed B to boot that line, you did not reboot right ?
Shaftoedje2, nope,
nr_zand the linux box doesnt translate address to ip too
Shaftokojiro, which out of um all? dont want to read through um all,
kojiroShafto: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml
edje2Shafto: well, boot your live CD and sort that mess out !
rigidhow can I skip one specific package with "emerge --resume" after doing "emerge -e1 world" ?
It's almost finished but one of the last packages doesn't compile
Shaftoedje2, One sec ill boot from livecd and come back on on my gentoo box
rigidor: where is the information located, "emerge --resume" looks for to continue?
kojirorigid: are you sure you want to skip it?
(ie you can't fix it?)
pergesuhow do I "remerge"? Just unmerge and the emerge again?
rigidkojiro, yep... it's glademm and i don't need it. it's more important to have the rest rebuilt
