NY Lost Funds

dwellshereany assassins in the room, I'm trying to kill mpg123 and kill -9 won't
Sup3rkiddohey guys..i can have multiple version of gcc right?...i need gcc3 for qemu..
[1]JeremyClick on the button anti-cheating "Click to enter" a surprise taten :-) : http://www.root-top.com/topsite/wow/in.php?ID=788
einvalrapterPs, novell owned once.. sad this "Majestic DealingSA"
kojiroeinvalrapter: Freenode can look at the big picture. #gentoo only cares about Gentoo Linux Support. For discussion of licenses go to #copyleft
soskohi
noppeis there a way to check what files have been deleted in the last few hours/days via rm foo?
soskohow do i check if any of installed packages is outdated on my system (including packages not listed in world file)?
einvalrapterkojiro: i have no bias, i only do what people like if its for a good purpose and whatnot
kojiroeinvalrapter: are you a bot?
einvalrapterkojiro: ditched one job with massive amouts of money to be made because it was DRM ;)
kojiro: hell no
ShaftoAnyone help, During my livecd install, it didnt create a user, now on reboot im prompted for a localhost login, how can i go about creating a user? Someone?
kojiroeinvalrapter: last warning. Please get on topic
_azaghaleinvalrapter: That's the spirit ;)
einvalrapterkojiro: gentoo rules
dwellsheresorry to repeat myself, does anyone have a solution where `kill -9 <process>` fails?
einvalrapter_azaghal: :)
_azaghalShafto: You do have the root user, right?
Shafto_azaghal, Yes, but what would the username be?
einvalrapteralso, Debian, Slackware, *BSD and others rule.. bias is crazy in these fast pased times
edje2Shafto: probaly root .....
kojirodwellshere: you need to seek out what file or device is holding the process captive
einvalrapteri forgot rh/fedora, i hate beagle and mono though
_azaghalShafto: Err... for start log in as root. Then you can add a user manually. See man useradd for more details
dwellsherekojiro, is that fuser?
kojiroeinvalrapter: I asked you to remain on topic, join #gentoo-ops if you want to discuss
Shafto_azaghal, the username for root though isnt root :(, so how do i login as root?
kojirodwellshere: I like lsof
_azaghalShafto: It's not??? How did you manage to do that? :D
Shafto_azaghal, I didnt do anything but when i type root as username, and the root password i set it doesnt login
_azaghalShafto: Impossible, you must have misstyped (did you use caps-lock when entering the password by any chance?).
kojiroShafto: you can reboot with a liveCD, chroot in, and change the chroot again
_azaghalkojiro: You beat me to it ;)
PulsewidthHow can I get the current time to sub-millisecond accuracy?
kojiro(yes, it is just that easy to root a local box without bios protection)
edje2Shafto: when booting add init=/bin/sh to the grub boot line. this will get you logged in without a password. you can then set passwords usernames etc
Sup3rkiddoi will rephrase, i have gcc4 installed in my box, fate in the form of qemu beckons that gcc3 should be installed to compile it. Will i mess my system if i install gcc3 as well...is there any sane way by which i could go about doing this
Shaftoedje2, I tried that, adding it to the end of the kernel line?
dwellsherekojiro, now that you mention it, I reckon restarting alsa will work, I'm gonna learn about lsof though, thanks : )
