microm: Eh?
wolfshadownot sure if anyone here might have run across this problem, am trying to connect to a remote site that uses windows via isdn, and the remote server is demanding eap type 15 be the authentication protocol used. which as far as I understand is pptp. have been totally unable to find a way of doing this, anyone encounter it/able to shed some light on a direction to go in? the linux pptp seems to want a link already established, unsuprisingly, rather then
be the authentication protocol as part of establishing the link
Guzastill trouble...
got it all ok
static ip
netmask
broadcast
micromGuza: make sure your network driver is loaded (lsmod), look at the file /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-*
daltin_azaghal, thanks
_azaghaldaltin: Np
micromGuza: syntax of /etc/conf.d/net.eth0 ?
Guza: you use ifconfig or iproute2?
Guzaifconfig
micromdoes it say module=("ifconfig") in the network config file? I think I just saw this was required now.
modules=( "ifconfig" )
Guzanetwork interface doesnt exist
please verify kernel module
what now ?
micromGuza: lspci -vvv will should show the network cards in your system
Guza: then you need to make sure the driver for the card has been loaded with lsmod
Guza: if it is not loaded, you need to edit /etc/modules.autoload.kernel-2.6
Guza: you also need to make sure you compiled your network card driver as a module when you compiled the kernel.
Guza: you can load the network card driver right now if you have it with the modprobe command (or insmod, I can't remember).
Amon-sanwould a commandline-gentoo fit on a 8MB embedded system with 32 MB ram?
264 MHz CPU
Guzamy netw0rk card runing from livecd
and i install gentoo from livecd
useing that kernel
from livecd
micromGuza: type "lspci"
AllenJB|2Amon-san: Not without difficulty. For starters you'd have to compile stuff elsewhere (virtual machine, distcc or cross compiling) and the portage tree would have to be hosted elsewhere
micromGuza: and tell me if you see your network card there
Amon-sani see
AllenJB|2Amon-san: If you still want to look at it, probably the best place to start would be the Embedded project
Guzayes i see
AllenJB|2mzbot: gentoo Amon-san embedded
mzbotAmon-san: http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/base/embedded/index.xml
Guzamy pci network
