NY Lost Funds

pergesu[R]: any idea what it is? I've tried three times and it always hangs at that spot. No errors or anything...just no response
[R]wow, three times
bug report!
geoaxispergesu: can you go to other terminals
as in alt + F2
eregiOUH! ;( It's goanna take forever.. yesterday I needed to recompyle again, it took me 4 hours
pergesugeoaxis: yeah. I've got top running in another shell...it says a cc1 command is taking up 62.9% of memory
[R]does the number change?
or is it constant?
geoaxispergesu: its just taking its due time
dragonheartSilverWolf: you seem to be mixing the split ebuilds and the kde monolithic packages
geoaxispergesu: what CFLAGS are you using
pergesu[R]: what number? if the amount of memory, yes
geoaxispergesu: and how much RAM do you have
SilverWolfdragonheart, nice... ... Thats gonna be a pain to solve
[R]pergesu: what about cpu?
pergesugeoaxis: 256 megs (this is a small vps)
dragonheartSilverWolf: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/kde-split-ebuilds.xml read this?
pergesu[R]: it says 0% of CPU
SilverWolfdragonheart, no. :) Thanks, ill take a look
[R]well thats a bit on the strnage side
geoaxispergesu: could you have accidenty put it to sleep
pergesugeoaxis: CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe"
geoaxispergesu: hmm ...CFLAGS sound ok
pergesugeoaxis: I've got no clue how I would have done that...and as I've mentioned, I've gotten stuck here a couple times before
now it says cc1 is using 17% of cpu
so perhaps it's just taking a really long time to build
geoaxispergesu: which package?
pergesugeoaxis: honestly I'm not sure what it's doing. I installed postgres because I wanted to use it instead of mysql, so I did "emerge --newuse courier-imap" (because it should use postgres instead of mysql authentication now). And it rebuilt like 36 packages
I don't know the exact one it's on, I threw it in a screen session and have lost the output before this
braeteneanyone im trying to set up gensplash but it doesnt seem to be doing anything even tho all the settings look correct, anyone familiar with that and could double check my stuff?
geoaxispergesu: well one way of knowing which pacjage you are on is to try emerge -pv your_target_package in another window
pergesu: the first package in the pretend output _should_ be the one you are compiling right now
pergesusys-devel/gcc-4.1.2
Bastiaanhmm, all packages that depends on linux-sources trys to install gentoo-sources, i have xen-sources installed, it seems xen sources is not detected as a linux-source? any idea's to fix it ?
pergesudoes it make sense that it'd take a really really really long time to build gcc?
[R]Bastiaan: it is...
Bastiaan: are you sure you have it emergeed?
Bastiaanoops, i didn't, just mounted the /us/src share
ikk make it provided then :)
