crazy6heh, it's not "my distro", gentoo is my prefered distro, I am just forced to use this confounded thing
I'm on gentoo right now even!
mattmattehtttt, those are partitions, not individual hard drives
tttt, oh, i miss read you post
tttt, opps
ttttmattmatteh: because grub's root is (hd0,0) (where the kernel is) and actual root partition is /dev/sda3
mattmattehtttt, is there a tab completion for hd1 or hd2 ?
ttttyeah all on sda
mattmattehtttt, even still, why is it trying hd2
ttttwell, it's trying sda3, but it can't open it
which is usually because filesystem support or disk controller support is missing from the kernel, but I THINK i have those both correct
it's ext2/3 and pIIx/ICH
mattmattehtttt, can you post the output of lspci ?>
ttttmattmatteh: no but it's on the gentoo-wiki
mattmattehtttt, why not ? and the one in the wiki is exactly the same ?
ttttwww.gentoo-wiki.com/HARDWARE_Apple_MacBook
yes
look for the feb 2007 macbook
and i have pci express enabled in the kernel
and the hardware must be compatible because the livecd recognizes
mattmattehtttt, you have support compiled in for IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7 Family) ?
tttt, as * not M ?
ttttwhere is that?
mattmattehtttt, you need to make sure thats in the kernel ( assuming i am looking at the right lspci)
tttti don't see it in menuconfig!
azgorHi. I've followed the nvidia guide but I can't seem to get hardware acceleration working. As far as I can tell, it _should_ work, yet opengl apps cause my cpu to peg and they run very slow. Any idea where to get help if not here?
AciDhi i have a p4 should i get the gentoo 2006.1 livecd, i686?
pankeyyes
AciDk thanks
Quintasanwill emerege gnome install gnome for me?
crdlbQuintasan, no but emerge gnome will :D
Quintasan:D
i just "emerge gnome" and it works :P
ttttmattmatteh: it's intel pIIXn support, and it's *
mattmattehtttt, there is a link to a kernel config on that wiki, might want to diff it with what you are using. also, you might try lsmod on the livd to see if its using the module, and maybe dmesg | grep -i sda or dmesg
crdlbyep
mattmattehtttt, anyway... i have to sleep now
Quintasan1/276
XD
ttttmattmatteh: THANKS! :)
