pergesuI want to install postgres, but the portage version is 8.0.9. How can I get the latest version (8.2.3)?
quittt"There was an Exception received during the install that is outside of normal install errors. This is a bad things; The error was: CopyPackageToChrootError :FATAL: copy+pkg_to_chroot: Could not execute preinst for x11-drivers/xf86-video-nsc-2.7.6.5 Please submit a bug report(after searching to make sure it's not known issue and verifying you didn't do something stupid) with the contents of /var/logo/install.log and /tmp/installprofile.xm
version of < Yes >aller you u< No >
this error in the installer simply doesn't make sense as these Yes and No
pergesuokay apparently I can install it with some of the stuff at http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=172670 - but I'm not sure how
Skunkypergesu: emerge layman, then use layman to get the postgresql-experimental overlay, then you can install the version you want.
tecnicoanyone know what package provides gpg-agent ?
kantlivelongchithead: hey i think it worked :)
pergesuSkunky: thanks, I'll check it out
GlowingApplejust found a 20GB file on my reiserfs formatted drive. According to `file`, the file is "Linux rev 1.0 ext3 filesystem data (needs journal recovery)". I assume file is guessing here...but not having any data on the drive (that I can recall), I'm not sure where the file came from, and what it really is. `reiserfsck` returns no corruptions on the partition.
kantlivelongchithead: YAY!! good find!
SkunkyGlowingApple: try mounting it, with mount -o loop filename mountpoint
kantlivelongchithead: thanks :)
chitheadkantlivelong: please consider adding the solution that worked to http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_nVidia_Drivers
pergesuSkunky: okay now that I've done that, I did "emerge --search postgresql" to see what was different... dev-db/postgresql is the same, but there are a couple others that are all masked. How do I unmask those? or better yet, how do I get dev-db/postgresql to be 8.2.3 instead of 8.0.9?
kantlivelongchithead: yeah i prolly will
GlowingAppleSkunky: yep, that was it. I backed up a dying hard drive to this drive a while back and must have forgotten to delete the image file... d'oh! Thanks!
gfsdgfsddoes anyone knwo about xbox linux in here
bit`/join #gentoo-xbox
Skunkypergesu: you unmask it the same way you unmask any other thing.
bit`opps n/m
gfsdgfsddoes that even exist?
pergesuSkunky: alright I think I've got it going

this error is annoying me when I install Gentoo
through the Gentoo LiveCD
is there a way to resume the installer where it stopped?
pergesuhow can I see how much memory mysql is using?
tecnicoquittt: emerge --resume (man emerge)
quittttecnico I am installing it from Gentoo LiveCD
tecnicopergesu: look at the resident memory in top I guess
quitttit didn't work
tecnicoquittt: --resume will only work if you didn't try doing another emerge operation after the previous time you stopped or it died.
quittt[tecnico]: where are those files placed?
to be merged
