ttttmattmatteh: yeah, i think making my /boot partition bootable in fdisk fixed it
mattmattehtttt, it loaded the kernel and then failed ?
ttttmattmatteh: this macbook is weird though, like pressing C sometimes ejects the disc instead of booting it like it should
mattmattehtttt, you are using a pc dos paritition and bios or efi ?
ttttmattmatteh: yeah failed on VFS panic or something block(0,3) ya de ya, should have been 0,2 I think but
mattmatteh: i used regular linux tools fdisk to create the partition table, guess that means it's standard msdos label
Samatrosjmbsvicetto: ;| It was the -combine cflag. Nuts to it.
eregiGood morning! What kind of USE flags do I need to emerge mysql? My current use flags are - USE="cgi fastcgi -gdbm php -ldap -berkdb"
ttttmattmatteh: it just can't access the / partition for some reason, trying to track that down, ext2/3 are enabled by default in gentoo sources, pIIx/ich is all enabled
mattmattehtttt, oh. personally i would have tried the efi method to use something modern. oh well
Samatrostttt: Are you listing / in fstab as /dev/sda(?) or /dev/hda(?)
ttttmattmatteh: nah, i'd rather have a bios, oh well
crazy6what a drag ... the only version of linux with a working version of this FEM package pre-installed doesn't support SMP or highmem
mattmattehtttt, you installed gentoo to sda4 ?
ttttmattmatteh: sda3
mattmatteh: sda2 is swap, sda1 is /boot
mattmatteh: no gtp or whatever
mattmattehtttt, then in grub that should be (0,2) starts at 0 not 1 like sda1 would
deepsaeregi, it depends on your requirements
tttti forgot to set fstab!
mattmatteh: grubs fine, i had (0,2)
eregiHm, I just need a safe mysql..
mattmattehtttt, if that was the problem you would see that error after it mounted the filesystem. however, would still fail though
ttttok thanks again brb
bsstephtttt: wrong root= on the kernel line?
mattmattehtttt, well, it still never mounted the filesystem
ttttbssteph: i forgot to set fstab
deepsaeregi, then you need iptables to secure it. emerge mysql with the current use flag
bsstephtttt: it's failing before fstab matters
tttt: as mattmatteh is saying
tttthaving the default template /etc/fstab would cause my problem
mattmattehtttt, cause a problem after this one is fixed, not the present problem
jmbsvicettotttt: You would get the error /dev/ROOT not found
tttti set the correct sda* now
eregideepsa, can You give me a link For mysql Useflags? because at this - http://gentoo-wiki.com/MySQL/Install site Isn't explaned as well what kind of useflags I need to set..
ttttjmbsvicetto: maybe i did and just didn't see it
brb
mattmatteherrr
