NY Lost Funds

TTTmattmatteh: ok, there's only one bootcamp, and that needs to be installed in osx, i have no osx machines
RiverRatnice. I don't think I tried that one.
TTTmattmatteh: i'd like to think i have the newer macbook
mattmattehttt, seems like you need to read more before deciding
HedgeMagejmbsvicetto: Thank you so much! I was fighting with that since yesterday afternoon
jmbsvicettoHedgeMage:
TTTmattmatteh: maybe, but i've had this $1000 laptop for a week or two now and haven't been able to use it, i just want to quickest way to boot
jmbsvicettoHedgeMage: by the way, what cflags are you using?
mattmattehttt, i have read up on this and only telling you what i recall. might be remembered wrong or outdated. dont take my word.... i might be wrong
ttt, what happened to osx ?
jmbsvicettoRiverRat: I've never needed it myself, but I've seen frequent reference to that in our GRUB thread on the forums
ni1sDoes anyone know a good amarok-like music player with IPOD? other than amarok ofcourse
TTTi ran badblocks -vw /dev/sda to verify no bad spots on the hard drive, i do this on all computers
(and i despise osx)
jmbsvicettoni1s: There's nothing more amarok-like than amarok ;)
RiverRatjmbsvicetto: Well like I said, that was on a 2004.3 install CD and with Gentoo you never need to reinstall.
jmbsvicettohehe
RiverRat: I've been installing several machines through the years ;)
mattmattehttt, did you look to see what partitions were there before you did that ?
HedgeMagejmbsvicetto: nothing unusual... let me check to be sure, I still have to boot to the CD it kernel panicked
TTTmattmatteh: i'm familiar with them
jmbsvicettoRiverRat: I've also took the chance and reinstalled this one in the last week - no need, but I had too many packages installed and didn't know anymore what was needed or not
mattmattehttt, what paritions were there ?
RiverRatjmbsvicetto: I usually get lazy and plug the drive into this one and do a chroot/alt-install. Then move it and it's always worked.
jmbsvicettoHedgeMage: Make sure you didn't forget to compile the driver for the storage controller in the kernel
TTTmattmatteh: the regular four for osx
HedgeMageVFS: Cannot open root device "sda3" or unknown-block(0,0)
jmbsvicettoRiverRat: I've done quite a few stage4 installs here as well
TTTmattmatteh: same as every other mac with osx on it i've ever seen which isn't too many
HedgeMagePlease append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0)
jmbsvicettoHedgeMage: Yup, you're missing either the driver for the storage controller, SCSI disk, SCSI generic or SCSI in your kernel
RiverRatjmbsvicetto: Are you psychic? You knew what her next problem was before she posted it. :)
pergesuI'm trying to emerge something and I get the error "No such directory `pub/mirrors/distributions/gentoo/distfiles'. !!! Couldn't download 'gentoo-headers-2.6.19.2-1.tar.bz2'. Aborting."
t35t0ranyone have an ebuild for krusader compatible with kde 3.5.6 ?
HedgeMagejmbsvicetto: yeah, thought I put them in but I'm going to double-check.
mattmattehttt, if you used fdisk, i didnt think that would read gpt
pergesuhow do I make it not use that server?
jmbsvicettoRiverRat: Look for the GRUB thread in the forums and check how many posts I have there ;)
t35t0rahh it has to be unmasked
