TTTmattmatteh: gig eth0
jmbsvicettobraetene: the desktop profile has more use flags - IIRC it has arts
TTTjmbsvicetto: i didn't see the GLI anywhere, at least not on the "Get Gentoo!" page at the top where they list everything
jmbsvicettobraetene: Here's my emerge --info: http://rafb.net/p/gYq91J29.html - notice that I don't have arts on the use flags
ttt: The 600MB is the GLI
MorphiusI'm using `cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc speed=2 -sao knoppix.iso` For some reason, cdrecord won't do TAO on my drive... Which, IIRC, it supports.
jmbsvicettottt: GLI - Graphical Linux Installer
mattmattehttt, sorry, think i miss read. not reading all the chat. just stepped in while waiting for an emerge
MorphiusShould I know anything, or what?
braetenejmbsvicetto, the better question is why do you have links to them both :P
jmbsvicettobraetene: ?
braetenejmbsvicetto, its odd to see all that info
jmbsvicettobraetene: In my make.conf or in emerge --info?
braetenejmbsvicetto, just that you have it readily available i mean
TTTjmbsvicetto: oh, xorg won't load with this livecd configuration, no screens found
jmbsvicetto: i945 video
jmbsvicettobraetene: I don't. Just do emerge --info | nopaste and I get the link ;)
Morphiusttt: you can still use generic VESA driver.
"No screens found" means something else is messed up.
braetenejmbsvicetto, ah, what exactl does kdeenablefinal do?
jmbsvicettobraetene: When you install, remember to emerge nopaste - it's very helpful
braetene: Don't use that one - it's a leftover I should take out
braetenek, im not quite familiar with the whole kde split thing now
jmbsvicettobraetene: Sorry about that
braetene: It's a way of you not having to install all the apps
braeteneany reason to not have them all?
MorphiusAnyone have any ideas on my odd cdrecord issue? :-\
jmbsvicettobraetene: If you want to install everything for now for testing, do emerge kde-meta and not emerge kde
braetene: space? no need?
braetenejmbsvicetto, whats the meta?
[sellout]Any way to more cleanly identify what bakcground process are eating ram? Top only accounts for about 20% of my used ram. The rest is full and evne if i kill all the process using 1% of ram or more i am still at 70% ram useage.
jmbsvicettobraetene: it's a way of installing all apps but using split ebuilds
braetenejmbsvicetto, wouldnt that take more time than emerge kde?
TTTMorphius: i wasn't sure how to set that up, just change xorg.conf driver from whatever to "vesa"?
Morphiusttt: yeah.
jmbsvicettobraetene: That way you can then remove the ones you don't like
[sellout]: free
Jerr|sdwow a gcc compile takes a while
mattmatteh[sellout], might be cashed. or shared libs. or a nasty mem leak.
braetenejmbsvicetto, ah k
