Fieldydotdotdot: if your kernel supports smbfs or cifs (cifs is nicer, supports large files), then mount can deal with it
dotdotdot: but yes you can make an fstab entry for it like any other filesystem
cd_romhehe, try to do lfs on those machines :D
lol
it would take years!
eliaspcrabfewd: using icecream and some fast nodes in your cluster, it takes ~2h to compile ;)
crabfewdtook my p3 350 server about 3 days
nakeehmm
dotdotdotFieldy what would the fstab line look like?
Fieldyeliasp: compared to distcc, what's nicer about icecream?
crabfewdi thought i was gonna kill it for sure
nolimitsoyastill, has anyone else experienced compilation failure with the latest oo.o package? bugzilla turn out nothing, so im figuring ill post a bug soon, unless anyone here has any clever suggestions :)
eliaspFieldy: adding nodes dynamically to your compiler-network, dynamic load-balancing ...
Priest-of-Psiwhy when I append the kernel line in grub with vga=791 when I boot it asks me for a mode?
Fieldydotdotdot: not actually sure, it'd be a bit more complicated than a typical fstab line... probably //host/share mountpoint-here cifs bunch,of,options 0 0 (man fstab)
bobber205For the Mail functions to be available, PHP must have access to the sendmail binary on your system during compile time.
eliaspPriest-of-Psi: gentoo-wiki -> fbsplash howto
Priest-of-Psikernel /boot/kernel-2.6.19 root=/dev/hda3 vga=791
bobber205where do I need to look for that?
dotdotdotFieldy, alright, thx man
crabfewdi should look into distcc...would make compiling for my older pcs nice. and i have 6 pcs running here.
ShaftoBy the sounds of it ill have fun compiling oo
Fieldyeliasp: ah. so like now with me when my laptop moves around on the same lan, but tends to get different IPs, i have to edit /etc/distcc/hosts on every single system. it's dumb. can icecream deal with that?
eliaspFieldy: yes, icecream deals really nice with that...
Fieldycrabfewd: definately do, it's great. though eliasp is telling us icecream might be better
nolimitsoyaShafto, whay is that? :)
eliaspyou just have to define one master node... that's all
Shaftonolimitsoya, Everyone saying how long it takes lol
Fieldyeliasp: is it in portage? is it a hassle to get it working right with gentoo systems?
crabfewdi like icecream :)
eliaspFieldy: took me ~5 minutes to get it working
Chicagocrabfewd: If you want distcc on all of them... and you have six of them running, I'll warn you to have them up2date together before you start distcc'ing... at the bare minimum you need to have the same kernel, gcc and glib versions installed on your distcc hosts.
nolimitsoyaShafto, its not that bad at all. im compiling on a 3000+ barton with 1024mb ram, and its perfectly tolerable :)
tulcodFieldy: even better, there's a wiki page!
actionFirztspawn notes the op change... and wonders if we allowed to ask Windows questions yet :p
Firztspawnnotes the op change... and wonders if we allowed to ask Windows questions yet :p
crabfewdya they all run ubuntu
Firztspawnheya blackace ... I iz bak :p
nolimitsoyaFirztspawn, you are not
Firztspawn, if you mention windows, ill hunt you down ;)
tulcodcrabfewd: be careful with chost then!
