Shaftocd_rom, Only selected gnome, someone told me to do that, reisio i think along time ago, a 6600 pci-e
wepyseren: did you tell it to patch?
serenwepy, can't find file to patch at input line 4
Perhaps you used the wrong -p or --strip option?
wepy, but when i patch manually with -p1 it works
wepyseren: bad patch file?
cd_romShafto:it should still work but im not sure
wepyah
Shaftocd_rom, Im following the guides now anyhows
cd_romso where are you now? Shafto
wepyseren: perhaps it is being patched after other patches are applied or something?
hkBstmakksjuh: I made a cd with distfiles so I could do a netwrokless install, since back then no cd supported it.
serenwepy, PATCH COMMAND: patch -p0 -g0 -E --no-backup-if-mismatch < is what the ebuild is using
Shaftocd_rom, what you mean?
Janostime to wreck this system.. bbiab
serenwepy, no its the first patch
Janos:)
cd_romyou're at terminal? Shafto
hkBstmakksjuh: use sabayon or whatever distrowatch says has kernel newer than 2.6.19
diddlyanyone know why i might have git installed? would something pull it in as a dep?
Shaftocd_rom, yeah
wepyseren: neat.. yah do you know how to change it to p1?
cd_romdid you try to startx?
serenwepy, where does the ebuild get those patch parms?
wepyseren: if not.. i would just add the patch line to src-compile myself..
Shaftocd_rom, yeah, through up an error about signal 11
nakeediddly: probably, there are even overlay which uses git
makksjuhhkBst: thx i will look then for a gentoo distro with kernel 2.6.19
cd_romhmm, that's weird! Shafto
wepyseren: must be part of the ebuild programs... i think there's a man page for it, 1 sec
serenwepy, how do i make it use -p1?
diddlynakee: should equery d dev-util/git tell me what they might be?
hkBstmakksjuh: it needn't be a gentoo cd. I think arch has recent kernels too.
wepyseren: man 5 ebuild might help
ShaftoWhich of these i do first? 1) To install Xorg, you just need to run emerge xorg-x11. 2)Before installing Xorg you have to configure two important variables in the /etc/make.conf file.
nakeediddly: I'm no expert but I would guess so
hkBstmakksjuh: as long as you follow the gentoo handbook :)
diddlynakee: cool, thanks
ShaftoKinda contradicts itself, install it, but before installing it?
cd_romShafto: yeah, INPUT_DEVICES and VIDEO_CARDS in /etc/make.conf
