NewCastleScottrullie thanks I will ask in #gnome
ni1sNewCastleScott, Gnome is haldified, it should take care of that
rullieni1s: i think he messed up his fstab
http://rafb.net/p/uUGuMW71.html
ni1slook like it
NewCastleScottnils what do you meen?

Bardamuhello , for reading a video, i need X use flag in vlc ?
Xintruuderan I make my Gentoo a webserver ?

NewCastleScottnils Im not shure I dont know what it is?
laser-Xintruder: you can install a httpd on your gentoo system
Xintruuderso, yes or no ?
hardcampaofcourse
Xintruuderok, cool.
ni1sNewCastleScott, http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gnome-config.xml
Xintruuderthanks.
n0dehey.. if i emerge world, and it comes up with kernel sources, would it update my kernel and then have to reset the machine?
laser-"yes or no", "true or false", good questions
chitheadn0de: no, you have to do that manually
laser-n0de: updating kernel sources doesn't update running kernel
nanonymehmm, where does gentoo download package tarballs by default?
n0deok, so no changes would take effect, or HAVE to reset.. only once i reboot it will update the kernel?
Xintruuderlaser-, I dont get your point there :P. I asked to get an idea before installing gentoo thats all
laser-n0de: there will be changes but your system will use the same kernel image no matter how many times you reboot.
ni1sn0de, only when you install the kernel in boot and reboot will the new kernel be used
laser-n0de: you'll have to cd <new_sources_directory> && configure && build; then copy the bzImage to whatever destination you feel appropriate, update your boot loader, reboot
n0deok, just wondering if i would have to reboot..
ni1sn0de, typically yes, unless you REALLY know what you're doing
n0deoh also, it seems that in portage theres apache/2.0.59-r2, but when i emerge apache, it doesn't show up the update? ive emerge --sync etc..
laser-Xintruder: don't worry about it .. your question is of the form .. evaluate(TRUE || FALSE)
chitheadn0de: you can specify the version you want to install, eg. emerge =apache-2.0.59-r2
n0deyeah, just wondering why it didn't show the update :/
chitheadn0de: maybe it is masked by ~arch keyword
laser-n0de: I'm wandering too. what does emerge -pv apache say ? (use rafb.net/paste)
ArmOrAttAkhm is not working
n0de1 sec..
laser-ArmOrAttAk: "hm" ?
