joakimhttp://rafb.net/p/4UQRuw27.html emerge --pv dbus
MonkehLinuxDolt: And from personal experience, forget about etc-update..
LinuxDoltok
MonkehEasier to do it by hand imo.
lonexi personally like conf-update
kojiroLinuxDolt: what gave you the impression that a baselayout change would require a system re-emerge?
defacejoakim - emerge -C sys-apps/dbus-0.91
ArmOrAttAkis there a lockfile left around that would cause an init.d script to not start?
LinuxDoltkojiro: the fact that i've always ended up doing one
kojiroLinuxDolt: The only thing that I can think of that requires a rebuild is a gcc upgrade to a non-abi compatible gcc
LinuxDolt: baselayout changes have never required one
ArmOrAttAki'm restarting apache to check configuration and it just suddenly stops responding
General_Tsoblackace: okay, thanks!
laser-erm. perhaps something on joakim's system need that specific version of dbus?
LinuxDoltkojiro: but i could have just always screwed up my etc's... i'll be extra careful this time :)
kojiroLinuxDolt: if you're worried, do a quick tarball of /etc
ArmOrAttAkthat's happened with another startup file as well
NewCastleScotthello all,I foolishly changed my fstab and now I have problems going through the gui to look at files on cdroms.can someone help me make the correct changes?
laser-NewCastleScott: post your /etc/fstab to rafb.net/paste .. (what "GUI" are we talking about here?)
is_nullNewCastleScott: don't forget to check the install manual about fstab
ArmOrAttAkno error in the log or from the script..
i can start it manual
NewCastleScottlaser gnome fstab is here : http://rafb.net/p/uUGuMW71.html
laser-ArmOrAttAk: perhaps the error is somewhere in /etc/conf.d ? I don't have the apache init script. or perhaps the error is somewhere in your apache configuration file?
ArmOrAttAkit starts fine manual laser-
NewCastleScottwhat do I need to change so the gnome gui will alow me to click on cdrom and show the files?
ArmOrAttAkit restarted fine 5 times just before
MonkehNewCastleScott: Completely get rid of all CD related entries, just let it automount..
jvsgood afternoon
joakimwhat show i do
LinuxDoltshoot. the change is only for wireless, i'm just going to mask the stupid package, so i don't have to worry at all
NewCastleScottMonkeh ok I did # them out and I still can mount from gui
ArmOrAttAkwhat would cause an init.d script to suddenly stop starting?
rullieNewCastleScott: does manual mount work?
MonkehNewCastleScott: Then you have another problem.. Unfortunately I'm desperate for a shower, so someone else will have to help
ArmOrAttAki can stop restart and get feedback not running
laser-NewCastleScott: do a ls -al /dev/cd* for me, paste it to the pastebin site
rullieArmOrAttAk: tail the log
ArmOrAttAkstart just quietly exits
i did the log is empty
