dotdotdot[sellout] what is the stepping?
seeeffffeif i have dir that other can't access(770) and inside that dir i have temp dir with 777, will others be able to access(read write execute) that temp dir
[sellout]it does not show any
_Iwonder_agpgart,intel_agp,and your video module
[sellout]00 on stepping.
richiefrich[sellout]: then your 32
[sellout]: pni = sse3
MinatakuSay, has anyone here tried installing and using Sun Studio 11 on Gentoo Linux?
richiefrich[sellout]: which is 64
MinatakuI mean, is there a danger of it conflicting with anything or should it be safe?
Obfuscate[sellout]: iirc, all AMD 64-bit processors should have both lm in flags and addressing > 36.
Draconx|Laptopsse3 is not amd64
richiefrichbut only the 64's have the pni
[sellout]http://pastebin.ca/437691
Draconx|Laptoprichiefrich, there are no amd64 semprons without pni? There are definitely X2's and athlon64's without that.
[sellout]is te cpuinfo. semperons are tricky so i want to be sure. I have an identical one that is totally compiled x86_64 and it works fine, but it may well of been a waste.
Staticwave_Aceanyone? a 2.6.19 or 2.6.20 based installcd floating around? 2.6.17 doesn't have AHCI support for my SATA card
richiefrichDraconx|Laptop: then idk :\
Draconx|LaptopStaticwave_Ace, try knoppix or kanotix
[sellout]its socket 754, and they "say" it is a semperon 64. If it is not then i would most certianly want to mail them a replacement processor.
Staticwave_AceDraconx|Laptop: then do an alternate install?
[sellout]Wich i may do anyway, is uppose compiling x86_64 will not hurt anything
paulmer2003I cant get the nvidia driver to work.
(==) Using config file: "/etc/X11/xorg.conf"
NVIDIA: could not open the device file /dev/nvidia0 (Input/output error).
(EE) NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA graphics device PCI:1:0:0.
Obfuscate[sellout]: It's 64-bit. lm flag alone confirms this.
overriderhello folks, i am in search for a regular updated list of computer parts which i can use for easy parsing. a great example is this -> http://www1.atelco.de/ai/export/Preisliste.txt ,which would be perfect, except its all in german. do you know if a computer shop that has a decent price list on his website for reference? thanks guys.
Draconx|LaptopStaticwave_Ace, altinstall document pretty well just hands you off to the handbook, there's a couple points which you may want to read, though.
paulmer2003Ive been struggling with this for like 3 days. Latest ~x86 udev. nvidia kernel module is loaded
Tried the legacy driver too, still wont work
[sellout]Obfuscate: the lahf_lm?
Staticwave_AceDraconx|Laptop: thanks, seems knoppix has 2.6.19, which should have the driver, and I can take it from there
Draconx|Laptoplm probably means "long mode" - which would mean amd64.
richiefrich[sellout]: no there is an lm flag
[sellout]Obfuscate: O i see, ther eis lm. Thanks! I was sweating bullets there for a second.
Thais siad it was semperon 64, but salesmen say a lot of things. I wanted to be sure i was not wasting my time with an x86_64 install
Obfuscate[sellout]: No, just lm, but it shouldn't be possible for lahf_lm to exist without lm (it wouldn't make sense, anyways).
[sellout]Thanks for saving me a lot of worry. Semperons are tricky, i will note this in the future.
the amd64s display "Athlon 64" pretty clear
