|Fieldy||chithead: hehe. conversion seems to be working. good thinking. though it's a huge image, it's amusing, it's taking 3GB ram/swap to convert it and rising. fun times|
|rullie||Fieldy: did u get ur nfs up?|
|JinxedLiz||hello i've emerged aircrack-ng but the only command that runs is aircrack-ng, aireplay and airodump don't run only have man pages|
anybody knows what is wrong ?
|Fieldy||rullie: yeah it's fine|
chithead: bleh got an error and it didn't have to do with running out of ram/swap ...
|NewCastleScott||I do have it as ext3|
|chithead||glitt: usb drive?|
|NewCastleScott||so what is the red all about?|
|FalconKirtaran||glitt, in lspci, do you get anything indicative of an ethernet card at all?|
|cruxeternus||NewCastleScott: What tool are you using to analyze the disk?|
|FalconKirtaran||I'd actually be tempted to say that there's a hardware issue, actually.|
the card probably isn't getting power.
are you trying to run any usb devices?
|glitt||but when i installed it in first place everything worked as a charm|
|NewCastleScott||cruxeternus one in the gnome gui called disk usage analyser|
cruxeternus is there a better one?
|cruxeternus||NewCastleScott: So the tool is telling you that 100% of the disk is used? That's a different problem than defragmentation.|
|NewCastleScott||there is at least 50 g left though|
|FalconKirtaran||glitt, do any of your PCI cards work at all?|
|cruxeternus||NewCastleScott: Defragmentation deals with re-organizing data on the disk to move parts from the same file closer together.|
|glitt||usb is also down :(|
|FalconKirtaran||glitt, it sounds like your motherboard is dying a painful death.|
(a slow and painful death)
|chithead||glitt: if you boot from a live cd, is it the same?|
|FalconKirtaran||you might want to try booting something else|
|cruxeternus||NewCastleScott: It's possible that you've used all the available inodes. This happens when you have a large block size in ext3, and lots and lots of tiny files.|
|FalconKirtaran||yeah, like a livecd >.> <.<|
|glitt||no no, with livecd i get nic up, but not sound card|
|FalconKirtaran||try booting it now.|
|chithead||glitt: can you copy the live cd's kernel to your hard drive?|
|NewCastleScott||cruxeternus so is there anything I can do to improve it?It works so maby I shuld just be happy with it.I just dont understand what the test is saying|
|glitt||can you walk me through? another noob here :(|
|phoenixx||chithead: not only is that a bad idea, but IIRC, lspci does not require proper kernel support to show the device's existence|
|NewCastleScott||cruxeternus its a WD "320" refourmated to ext3 and now is like 300g|
|cruxeternus||NewCastleScott: Well, you could also test it. Try unarchiving a linux-kernel into a temp directory on it and see if it succeeds.|
NewCastleScott: If it does, then the Gnome tool is not working properly on your disk.
