rabidphageroger55: you could do some about:config tweaks and bring firefox to 50 mb realms
roger55gentoodude, just make sure you compile on another box or it'll take ages to get gentoo up on 400mhz
gentooduderoger55: but thats ewwww kde stuff :X
roger55rabidphage, right, but I prefer konqueror anyway.
Dislooverk, that is for one of my backend servers that i use at work
rabidphageroger55: i agree
pleedroger55 oh i see i did this already in the installation process...
gentooduderabidphage: argh what should i do for my programs lineup
overkDislo, you dont need to determine yout initrd in grub.conf? only in the menu.lst?
gentooduderabidphage: i need my internet, mail, video and music
roger55gentoodude, then ask someone else. I am using kde on a thinkpad 570 366mhz 192mb ram just fine
Triffid_Hunteroverk: usually they're the same file
gentooduderoger55: oh well i plan on using fvwm.. ive had my share of kde :x
rabidphagegentoodude: i don't know if kninja runs of linux but thats a good browser
overkhmm ! ok
dragonheartoverk: grub.conf is in gentoo the same as menu.lst in other distributions
nollidjgentoodude: you could also try out dillo or galeon, which i think are both lighter than firefox (dillo being extremely lightweight)
Dislooverk, you dont need to have it at all for all that i know
roger55alright, I hope your dad agrees that fvwm is nice for a newcomer from windows though.
nollidjgentoodude: see also epiphany, i guess, if you are in GNOMEland
overkok im going to change my grub.conf and reboot ! i?ll be back in a minute !
TheSourcei have just downloaded a .mp4 but i cannot play it using mplayer or xine.. is there another program that i could try to play it?
Dislooverk, good luck have a live cd close by
roger55TheSource, you might need to enable additional USEflags with mplayer
israelhello

i found that spider in my room
roger55TheSource, emerge -vp mplayer
israeli am scared of it
what to do?
rabidphagegentoodude: sorry k-ninja runs only on wine
israelkill it?
nollidjgentoodude: dillo has different modules to extend its capabilities, so if it looks really feature-poor at first, it might be worth looking into different modules just to see if it can do what you need it to
XaeroXisrael: squash it with a shoe
foobathave an empty plastic box?
nollidji have been running linux on 300 mhz machines around my house for a while now, and dillo was nice for simple browsing
foobator a cup
roger55israel, this isn't a nursery. take the offtopic chatter elsewhere, thanks.
gentooduderabidphage: omg whys this seems like such a big deal for me setting up this box
rabidphage: i went through emerging 4 wm's im like freakin out
