gentooduderoger55: damn it.. well what _does_ do video?
pleedFieldy, i have got a new gentoo with modified genkernel for built-in sata support but while booting kernel fails with "block device /dev/sda9 is not a valid root device" dont know what to do tried several things i read in mailing list and gentooforum but nothing helps

Dislooverk, and that is an ll /boot
stevenmIf I am in the grub prompt, is there a way to ask it where this grub is installed?
overkDislo, yes !!
rabidphagegentoodude: mplayer is all that comes to mind
roger55gentoodude, mplayer does
stevenmie, what disk/partition
AlfadorJanus`gentoodude: i knot think so, use mplayer
knot = don't
know know how that happened..
gentooduderoger55: is mplayer good for music?
Blue89http://scanline.ca/dpi/ <-- there is an Xresources file line that should work on this page, just in case anyone else wsa looking for it, or has mod access on the gentoo wiki to link for people who have this question in the future
roger55pleed, what sata controller do you have according to lspci ?
pleedroger55 nvidia
roger55gentoodude, I prefer amarok for music and mplayer for video
nollidjBlue89 & co: http://process-of-elimination.net/wiki/Control_Font_DPI_in_X looks like it has a good discussion of the issue, too
rabidphagegentoodude: i like mplayer.. amarok for me is a beast..
roger55gentoodude, mplayer does play music but it's hardly the preferred choice.
fxmplayer is simply the best for any video needs
rabidphageit encodes as well
fxthat's why i said video needs, not video playing needs :D
rabidphageso its the swiss army knife of media players
Dislooverk, i dont know if this will work any better because i have never seen a grub.conf this way but here we go
