overkDislo, the first entry works perfectly.... the second one (that i created with my compiled kernel) dont :(
xintrudercan i use the amd64 handbook to install my x86 ?
dragonheartBlue89: could be the window manager then
XaeroXalsa is configured and working (to the best of my knowledge) but gaim isn't outputting sound ... is there a way to correct this .....
roger55Xintruder, why not use the proper handbook?
pleedwhen i try to boot my new gentoo with modified genkernel for sata it says "block device /dev/sda9 is not a valid root device ... " . i ve read several threads but none could help. i installed with the gentoo doc
dragonheartXintruder: they are very simialy but i'd just follow the x86 one
roger55pleed, did you use genkernel?
pleedyes
Blue89I am looking at man pages for xorg.conf, no font section
pleedgenkernel --menuconfig all
and added sata support
acxhadees: if hdparm can't test write speed then emerge bonnie++
CPUFreak91Dislo: Ok, so there's no firmware differences that might cause some headaches?
xintruderroger55, because that would like a waste of 20 minutes waiting for like 20-30 pages to print
nollidjBlue89: i believe you could get bigger fonts in general by specifying a higher resolution (in dpi) for your x server. otherwise, you could also set the default gtk font size and probably that for qt and other toolkits...
Dislooverk, which one the first or the second
roger55pleed, you need to have support for your sata controller builtin in your kernel
nollidjBlue89: are you on a big screen and high resolution so that things look really tiny?
dragonheartVinky: is the dir writable by the web server? is it putting them elsewhere? it was a while ago that i looked at it so my memory isn't great
Blue89yes
overkthe second is the one with my new kernel that dont boot
roger55Xintruder, I don't know, I'd just read them online if I had to :)
xintruderroger55, I cannot.
pleedroger55 yes i made it but doesnt help
nollidjBlue89: what does `xdpyinfo | grep resolution` say ?
gentoodudeargh.. whats the better xmms packagename?
DisloCPUFreak91, next to none that is one of the great things about mac hardware is that i use the exact same downloads for a friend of mine when she is updating her macbook as i am for my MBP
overkDislo, the first one was created my the livecd instalation..
gentoodudeis it beep?
roger55pleed, then you might not be booting the right kernel or chose the wrong option
gentoodude, audacious you mean?
xintruderCan I use the amd64 handbook to instal gentoo x86 arch ?
Blue89this WAS a laptop, but I broke the screen assembly and I am using it on a monitor untill I get it replaced. apparently the new screen doesn't show tiny fonts well, thel look blurry
DisloCPUFreak91, you can also look here to get some good input http://gentoo-wiki.com/Macbook
Stonefishgentoodude: Beep is something altogether different
gentooduderoger55: doesng sound familiar
CPUFreak91Dislo: thanks
DisloCPUFreak91, but ultimatly for me it would come down to is the bigger screen worth it to you
Stonefishbmp is what you're thinking, which is iirc dead.
