overkbecause, it has no wallpaper, no xfce menu
dragonheart: its strange...
cruxeternuslouipc: Well, I believe there were some problems with people with really old installs. They had to change profiles a couple of times before getting modernized.
dragonheartoverk: are there specific pacages for the xfce menu and wallpapers?
cruxeternusNot sure if your specific problem was addressed.
NDAKOTAdoes baselayout also depend on gmp?
acxhey got a quick Q, I want to run emerge -vauD world (updating all of the packages) but I don't want to update openoffice at this exact moment, is there a way to skip it?
louipcyeah I had an install that was before they had the 200X releases
rabidphagedo i have to manually refer and figure out all the use flags mentioned here http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml?part=2&chap=2 before i configure the kernel?
overkdragonheart: well, i searched for some how-to's on the web and every place that i found some installation tips, tells thats only "emerge xfce4"
rabidphageor is there an easy way?
cruxeternuslouipc: Like the 1.3/1.4 releases were pre-profile.
dragonheartNDAKOTA: i know the gcc partially depends on mpfr which depends on gmp
louipcyeah I had 1.4 :/
I think I installed 2005 but it did the same thing :/
overkdragonheart: but i'm trying to find some forgot packages...
roger55rabidphage, no, go ahead configure your kernel
acxhey got a quick Q, I want to run emerge -vauD world (updating all of the packages) but I don't want to update openoffice at this exact moment, is there a way to skip it?
overkdragonheart: my major question is about kernel compile
louipcI think I'll use gentoo again when I get some really weird hardware or something
dragonheartoverk: sorry i've never looked a xfce. if you find faults or improvements please lodge a bug
roger55rabidphage, USEflags enable/disable optional features of packages while tracking additional dependencies.
Dislocruxeternus, thanks for the help i dont think i have it figured out yet but i have some pretty good ideas where to start
dragonheartoverk: probably jsut address the channel for answers rather than me specifically
rabidphageroger55: i'm planning not to install kde so i guess it would be safe to remove kde and qt?
dragonhearti'm sure peope have better answers than me :-)
roger55rabidphage, and arts , yes
louipckernel compile is fun
cruxeternusDislo: np
rabidphageroget55: cool.... thanks mate :)
roger55rabidphage, otoh you might want qt support if you plan on using mythtv, amarok or k3b
rabidphage, but that's up to you :)
rabidphagehmm.. whats the performance trade off
roger55rabidphage, ?
overkdragonheart: i compiled gentoo-sources (2.6.19), and copied it to /boot, added the grub entry, created the initrd for it, but when i try to boot, it starts the boot sequence, and all information apear in the first line of the screen, and then i get a kernel panic
dragonheart: i'm still using the livecd kernel =/
roger55rabidphage, I wouldn't know, I use all of the above :) and qt is a dependency of all of them.
overkdragonheart: because of that
louipcook thanks bye
