ScriptBluemptech, yeah, do I know you?
BenBBlackHawk: I was kidding, if you hadn't noticed.
BlackHawk: gentoo is, however, targetted at advanced users.
mptechScriptBlue, yes, from HTS
BlackHawkBenB: In the case of gentoo it might actually be true..... only the developers understudd things.....
anAngelI mean to watch the number of simultaneous connection which are active
BlackHawkBenB: I chose gentoo to learn
imperfect-I think what the gentoo community has failed to notice/acknowledge is that most people dont have the time/energy/disposistion to spend the time neccessary to have a gentoo system as their primary box.
BenBBlackHawk: it's not a bad choice if you want to learn how linux and unix works.
BlackHawkBenB: But I hope it's a nice desktop system too once it' s configured
imperfect-For them *ubuntu makes the most sense if they want opensource/free software and they actually want to get something done in a reasonable amount of time. I don't think it has anything to do with their skills.
BenBimperfect-: hm? I am willing to have it as primary box, I am just not willing to spend time on an OS. it should work for me, not the other way around.
e.g. updates should be fully automatic.
swapnathe handbook shows an example USE setting for KDE as USE="-gtk -gnome qt3 qt4 kde dvd alsa cdr" my question is are these enough considering the huge list in use.desc
brokemyXok any guru want to help me out
imperfect-BenB: ... which is why ubuntu prolly makes more sense for you. Or even opensuse ;)
BenBimperfect-: right (including the last part)
imperfect-: in fact, I am typing this on opensuse. I use gentoo on the servers
imperfect-nod.
I'd prolly use a *bsd for servers
BenBthe lack of auto-updates annoys me most
imperfect-but that's me ;)
BlackHawkI would never use suse if it's like what i've been told - resource hog
BenBimperfect-: it's just home servers. BSD is too foreign for me, no time to learn yet another dialect of unix
imperfect-BenB: It's really not that different. shrug
I dunno
BenBimperfect-: did you have a chance to look at my routes?
http://pastebin.mozilla.org/7223
imperfect-BenB: I need to see 10.1.1.3's table
BenBimperfect-: 10.1.1.1 already fails, and 10.1.1.3 has 10.1.1.1 as gw, but I'll add it.
imperfect-just to at least verify you dont have multiple default routes or something
Oh that second traceroute actually died?
I thought you just cut it off ;)
BenBimperfect-: http://pastebin.mozilla.org/7230
imperfect-: yes, it died.
anAngelCan someone help me with this kind of problem: I have a limited number of connection and i also have a router.I want to be able to see at any time the simultaneous connection established through the router.
BenBFWIW, 10.1.1.1 is openwrt, 10.1.1.2 is gentoo, 10.1.1.3 is suse
nanonymehmm
BenBimperfect-: can you see anything there?
imperfect-BenB: well..
