| Meliorator | Hi all, can someone help me with a USB DVD-ROM/Burner issue please? ...cdrecord -scanbus detects the device when it is plugged in and the a node appears for it in dev (/dev/sg1). I can burn a CD/DVD on the device, no problem at all, but it refuses to mount a CD/DVD (mount -t iso9660 /dev/sg1 /mnt/usbcd, gives error ''mount: /dev/sg1 is not a block device''), any ideas please? |

| SnowRaptor | need help with dd. I want to clean my notebook hard disk beyond some possible data recovery because I'm about to sell it. So I issued, from a liveCD, the comand "dd if=/dev/random od=/dev/hda bs=50M", but doesn't seem to be any disk activity. Does it make sense? |
