ralphosure it will work
xinming[R]: download stage3 tar ball. and then, try emerge --sync && emerge -uDN world, There are many packages need to be updated.
[R]: that takes lots of time.
Draconx|Laptopschmirgo, you could configure udev to do so when it creates said device nodes.
[R]xinming: then get a better computer?
xinmingIf we use 2007.0, There won't be much updates.
[R]right...
Green_Lordso many names
[R]the amount of large packages in the base systme isn't htat big
glibc and gcc
Green_Lord935 whistle....
schmirgoDraconx|Laptop, ok thanks, i'm going to read a tutorial about udev then... ;)
larrythecowDraconx|Laptop: Well I have two isos, an mdf and an mds. I got mdf2iso. Now I need to burn these to one disk. My plan was to make a cue file and then use it with k3b, turning mdf to iso. Not sure what I'll do with mds but am I on the right track?
Draconx|Laptopxinming, hold off your world update until before bedtime, then.
[R]larrythecow: mdf and mds go together... like bread and butter
xinming[R]: barton 2500+ + Laptop with p4-m, takes 5 hours to install all updates.
actionGreen_Lord feels confused and isolated.....
Green_Lordfeels confused and isolated.....
[R]larrythecow: mdf2iso is what you want
xinming: thats nothing
Po0kycan you get all packages that were merged with ebuilds from a specified overlay?
xinmingDraconx|Laptop: that's what I've done. But...
[R]Po0ky: like get a list?
actionGreen_Lord wonders whether 5 conversations are happening
Green_Lordwonders whether 5 conversations are happening
Po0kyyeah
I need to clean up, get rid of overlays I don't use anymore
larrythecow[R] so I mdf2iso <mdf> then mdf2iso <mds> and then make a cue sheet and burn with k3b and all should be well?
Draconx|Laptopxinming, the only machine I have that can't upgrade the base system in one night's sleep is my pentium 120.
xinmingDraconx|Laptop: well, I think I'm wrong anyway. At least, Gentoo is not a install && use distribution. ;-)
RiverRatGreen_Lord: Yeah, it's a slow night.
Green_Lordmm
[R]Po0ky: if you get rid of the overlay and do -pvuDN world portage will probably complain if the overlay is in use
Green_Lordit's scary in here.....
xinmingDraconx|Laptop: Oh.... pretty good machine...
;-)
[R]larrythecow: no, you read the documentation that tells you how to use the program
Po0kyI'll start of with disabling it first :)
reisio[R]: --depclean is the traditional (but not completely unquirky) option
RiverRatGreen_Lord: If you have a question just ask.
Green_Lordlarrythecow is my friend, is he asking about dark-oberon?
[R]reisio: but if its in the world file...
