RiverRatAwee: Google for your monitor and look it up. EDID is supposed to get that info from the monitor but fails sometimes.
Awee: It does work but many people have problems getting it to work. Have you looked at the docs online?
goldphishRiverRat: it says malformed patch at line 5; which is referring to the start of a comment it looks like. I know it's a pain, but would you mind looking at that patch to see if it's total crap or not
RiverRatmzbot: gentoo Awee xorg conf
mzbotAwee: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xorg-config.xml
Aweemzbot: how am i suppose to open that, without a GUI interface, heh.
ACORN-FROM-HELLI just recently changed my USE= variable in gentoo... is there a way to automatically re-emerge only the packages which this will effect?
RiverRatgoldphish: emerge nopaste run the patch and pipe the output into nopaste and give me the link.
peksterACORN-FROM-HELL: emerge -avND world
RiverRatACORN-FROM-HELL: emerge -avDtN world
AweeRiverRat: not yet, I can't do it in command-driven interface. =(
ACORN-FROM-HELLcan you give me a break down of what avND does?
RiverRatpekster: It was that extra 't' that took so long to type. :p
peksterRiverRat: I'm sure ;)
ACORN-FROM-HELLi know D is deep...
d-aliegridoes anyone .. know about how the CLASSPATH gets set in java ebuilds?
RiverRatask verbose deep tree new-use
ACORN-FROM-HELLthanks!
RiverRatd-aliegri: I'm pretty sure that java-config does that now.
Awee: Use links or something like that.
ACORN-FROM-HELLI love compiling on a core 2 duo... it's so much faster than the pentium 3 I was using earlier this year... kernel compiles in like 90 seconds hah
AweeRiverRat: I've written the configuration to my xorg.conf, and I get this "Error: Cannot open deivce /dev/input/mice , no such device" xD
arnoldwhat is the livecd-installer supposed to do after pressing the install button? On my system it does nothing on hd, consumes no cpu and has no options after pressing the install button...
RiverRatAwee: ls -lR /dev|less and then search for mouse '/' .
Arnold: That doesn't sound good. I've never tried to use it though so I don't know. It's my understanding that it is still in a testing phase though.
dgrantanyone getting digest errors with mime-types-7?
arnoldargh, so all my choices are gone now..
how would you recommend to install gentoo?
RiverRatdgrant: No but the solution is usually to delete the related files in /usr/portage/distfiles and then re-emerge them.
ACORN-FROM-HELLArnold: after having similar issues... I did a manual install from stage 1... a little trickier but much better results I find
d-aliegriRiverRat, well, I'm having a problem where azuerus isn't finding bcprov...
AweeRiverRat: found it .. mouse -> /input/mice | now what?
RiverRatArnold: I did a stage 1 install 3 years ago. Stage 3 is the preferred method now though.
arnoldcli stage 3?
RiverRatmzbot: Gentoo Arnold handbook
mzbotArnold: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/index.xml
dgrantRiverRat: I've done everything, deleted files and changed mirrors
goldphishRiverRat: cool, thanks. --> http://rafb.net/p/19Dk4022.html
arnoldyes there i come from...
RiverRatdgrant: Then you should move on to searching bugs.g.o and see if there is anything relevant there. I've had to wait a few days though for mirros to catch up or poach a dev to check it out of CVS for you.
