DJGummikuhejb_: well depends... if you have a server without x, this is quite possible
npcejb_, only if you'll also set -X
lol
:)
DJGummikuhall tohse 4 are meant for X use only
npc: lol :) we're up against each other on that one :))
purplepenguinshmm, so you need to reset root's password while not being able to use root
npclol. :)
purplepenguinsa livecd can do that
bjdrawahh
ejb_so you're saying it's pretty much impossible or a very bad idea to do it if I am running X
bjdrawso no boot with teh single anymore?
DJGummikuhejb_: well you can run -kde and -gnome
your apps will still run if you do -gtk and -qt as well
these useflags determine only on packages that have a CHOICE wether or not they are compiled with/against qt and gtk
npcDJGummikuh, yup, but nice apps with gtk guis or qt guis wont have those guis
VXWorksHi, I got a intel core 2 duo laptop! what arch should I download??
DJGummikuhso like ettercap if you do ettercap with -gtk , the gtk frontend that comes with ettercap is not being built. that does not affect the system itself
npc: yes but only if there is a choice wether or not to build that ugi
npcvxworks, x86?
DJGummikuhfunny enough, you even could run gnome while you are on -gnome -gtk
npcDJGummikuh, indeed. :)
Jokervxworks: amd64 for 64bit or i686 for 32bit mode
ejb_bah, I guess I'll just leave them out then
DJGummikuhejb_: yes... add them when you recognize a package you install is missing a feature...
tdrbuilding gnome with -gnome makes gnome act really bad
DJGummikuhejb_: it's no big deal to alter your useflags from time to time - as said most ppl here do it
tdr: but at least it acts
VXWorksJoker, my processor is a 64bit right?
DJGummikuhtdr: which is my point :) it won't be very useable but it would run
tdrDJGummikuh it doesn't integrate together well
Jokervxworks: "core 2" is emt64 / intel 64 / amd64 / x86_64 or whatever new name they can come up with i think
VXWorksok
RiverRatit is
DJGummikuhtdr: yeah but what I was trying to prevent was that he gets a way to powerfull opinion of the useflag... it's a decision for packages that have this decision, nothing more, nothing less
Jokervxworks: however .. running old x86 style is still supported
DJGummikuhtook me a while to figure that so I try to tell that to the others :)
because nobody told me when I was new^^
bjdrawpurplepenguins, so I have to boot from a live cd, then chroot then run passwd?
DJGummikuhbjdraw: yes
