NewCastleScottadeeln yes and the kernel was built for the support .The modem is seen by name in lsusb I dont know how to add it to the .conf
adeelndjoxy: even if revdep-rebuild can't actually emerge the packages, it should give you a list of packages that are broken, and you can try manually emerging them
djoxyadeeln: there are like 350 packages broken
connyosisdjoxy: followed the gcc upgrade guide?
djoxyall have broken links with linexpat.so.0
adeelnNewCastleScott: you might want to do a google search for 'linux network usb'
djoxyyep...
connyosisdjoxy: dev-libs/expat
djoxyrecompiled my system all was ok
yangmanMoxJet: you can recompile in your current environment
djoxyconnyosis: yeah emerging it now
hopefully it will work out
Rendwhats a safe command to remove unneeded dependencies?
llyodIs there a way to define a keyboard layout (for X), without the xorg.conf ?
MoxJetyangman: ok thanks I'll try find the dhcp-includes
djoxyok the problem was in the new version of expat libs
adeelnRend: you can try doing an 'emerge --depclean' and immediately issue a 'revdep-rebuild'
djoxyPlease note that the soname of the library changed!
Kithanks adeeln: trouble is what do I type in google? "screen goes black after BIOS check successful lilo"? hmm.. I'll see.
djoxyIf you are upgrading from a previous version you need * to fix dynamic linking inconsistencies:)
NewCastleScottadeeln I think I just need to distinguish the tru location of the connection and the name so I can add it to the config file
scythetleppoI have a question
adeelnKi: i'd probably search for something like 'black screen lilo' and see what you get
PloujI've never had the kernel broken after updating a Gentoo system, I need some hand-holding!
llyodno one can answer me?
Rendrevdep-rebuild will repair any broken dependencies i take it?
adeelnNewCastleScott: well the connection should live somewhere in /dev
azazelloKi: so since lilo _doesn't_ work, why not try grub?
tuxickwhy wouldn't lilo work?
adeelnRend: more or less
tuxickthat sounds like a serious hardware problem
Rendok thanks adeeln
caze_donfusionNewCastleScott: try usb0 =P
adeelnplouj: what exactly is your system not doing?
NewCastleScottadeeln I have googled myself to death and have not found a gentoo wiki or anything gentoo about it.I know it can be done.I am very new to linux in genral so I have tryed commands for other os and I dont know how to translate them yet
Ploujllyod: you could try asking your question on the mailing list and forum
djoxyoh... multiple package in one slot problem revdep is dead :)
Kiazazello: because, if I try grub and IT doesn't work then I have NO OS now do I?
Ploujadeeln: right, if I boot into my kernel it panics because hotplug seg.faults
caze_donfusionNewCastleScott: with the usb modem plugged in `ifconfig usb0`
