| marienz | caze_donfusion: flag's removed, not disabled. |
| Sugar_from_OTW | scythetleppo: oh no! not the make.conf...give me a second, I'm going to get a coffee |
| marienz | caze_donfusion: ebuild was changed, now uses the bindist flag instead of the mozbranding flag, which works the other way around. caze_donfusion: you can safely skip that remerge. |
| Nam | thx guys |
| scythetleppo | and I'm positive that it's supposed to be VIDEO_CARDS="ati" cuz I had it up and running a few days ago |
| kantlivelong | i hope not.. |
| scythetleppo | but startx keeps saying it can't find ati driver |
| marienz | scythetleppo: pastebin Xorg.0.log and xorg.conf |
| caze_donfusion | so now the only way to have mozilla branding is to get the binary? you cant compile it anymore? |
| scythetleppo | I can't pastebin, it's on another computer and I don't know how to get the flash drive to work |
| ebfe | caze_donfusion: use mozbranding |
| uberpinguin | azazello: the docs _do_ cover configuring in-kernel ACPI support, installing and configuring acpid. Google can search the Gentoo forums (append site:forums.gentoo.org). Most linux-related config issues can be found through good Google queries, and the great fall-back of IRC is there, too. Seriously, the resources are available if you are willing to take the time to use/learn them. If you're not, then Gentoo will be a nightm |
| caze_donfusion | heh |
| uberpinguin | are on _any_ computer. |
| Sugar_from_OTW | scythetleppo: any idea why it broke? |
| purplepenguin | I can't get mozbranding to work |
| action | marienz mutters |
| marienz | mutters |
| purplepenguin | I'm trying to install 2.0.0.2 |
| marienz | caze_donfusion: you misparsed. |
| scythetleppo | I'm reinstalling |
| caze_donfusion | ebfe: they just said they removed that use flag? |
| marienz | caze_donfusion: the mozbranding flag was previously used. It is now ignored. The bindist flag was previously ignored. It is now used. |
| purplepenguin | they removed mozbranding? |
| scythetleppo | I formatted the hard drive and started over, and can't seem to get it back to how it was now |
| marienz | caze_donfusion: if you previously had the mozbranding flag *enabled* you should have the bindist flag *disabled* and vice versa to get the same effect. |
| purplepenguin | so you can get the branding by default? |
| marienz | caze_donfusion: (and everyone else) net effect is you now get branding *enabled* without enabling any flags that aren't enabled by default. |
| purplepenguin | does bindist affect any other packages? |
| marienz | purplepenguin: yes. |
| Sugar_from_OTW | scythetleppo: oh I see. So it WAS working, but you've recently formatted and reinstalled, and now its broken? |
| caze_donfusion | marienz: ahhh guess the bin in there made me think it would force mozille-firefox-bin or something |
| purplepenguin | which ones? |
| marienz | purplepenguin: emerge pkgcore; pquery --has-use bindist. |
| nahun | is there anyway to add a user with just a numeric name? like just "100" |
| marienz | bindist is used to disable compilation of code that would produce a binary you cannot legally redistribute. |
| purplepenguin | I don't know nahun, try it |
| Sugar_from_OTW | scythetleppo: have you run xorgconfig yet?> |
| purplepenguin | useradd 100? |
| scythetleppo | yeah, I installed gentoo, then I emerged kde and xorg and I can't get it to start...and I'm newb so I probably am missing a step.. |
