#gentoo - Sun 18 Mar 2007 between 15:49 and 15:52

reisioshafto1: the universal image does not install automatically
huskudeface: the reason why i wont do a reinstall is that i have installed gentoo many times and think that gentoo should not need reinstall, ever. and why i dont want to (again) boot from live and do the same steps i already did cause i already did them :)
pmkgreetings, gentooers
reisioshafto1: just continue with your minimal
huskudeface: i want to learn why it does not work and what to do to fix it :)
defacehusku - well, looks like you missed the gcc fix part
pmkare there any other Dvorak users here?
shafto1reisio, its just a little hard to do using a console :)
reisioshafto1: nonsense :p
quicoju_what does it mean when i get this warning:
libtool: link: warning: `/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.1.1/../../..//libgnome-2.la' seems to be moved
defacehusku - you need a compiler, to compile a compiler
elkidis mp3123 out of portage?
huskudeface: yeah, so can i rsync needed stuff from another installation?
shafto1reisio, your like the gentoo god though wouldnt be hard for you :P
reisioelkid: mpg123 ? no
dhumphreyselkid: i think its mpg321 or mpg123
reisioshafto1: it's just reading and typing
defacehusku - could, but i wouldn't try it
elkidreisio: ya that its in portage
shafto1reisio, if i type # links http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml in the console can i view the documentation?
sly007deface: isn't there anything I can't configue in /etc/conf.d/rc? I dont want udev to load any modules
defacequicoju_ - http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gcc-upgrading.xml
huskudeface: why not?
reisioelkid: hrmmm?
shafto1: yes
VanessaEgot a question... just installed gentoo on husband's box, everything is up to date, and now I'm installing the various apps he'll be using. He uses K3B (and by extension, KDE), but if I include both on the command line, emerge complains that kdebase-3.5* and kdesu-3.5* are blocking each other.
shafto1reisio, thats okay then :)
defacesly007 - read the udev rules, and dunno .. possibly
reisioshafto1: yes :p
defacehusku .. cause im not lazy
elkidsorry this white background in my term...
reisioVanessaE: did you update the system after installing?
coco_kid594deface will you beable to help me later?
elkidcant see as well as should be
reisioVanessaE: or go directly to installing KDE?
huskudeface: well, what would you do, besides rebooting from live ?
VanessaEI updated first
x7VanessaE: try installing kde first then the kde apps on top
VanessaEemerge --sync followed by the usual emerge -unD world.
