| reisio | shafto1: the universal image does not install automatically |
| husku | deface: the reason why i wont do a reinstall is that i have installed gentoo many times and think that gentoo should not need reinstall, ever. and why i dont want to (again) boot from live and do the same steps i already did cause i already did them :) |
| pmk | greetings, gentooers |
| reisio | shafto1: just continue with your minimal |
| husku | deface: i want to learn why it does not work and what to do to fix it :) |
| deface | husku - well, looks like you missed the gcc fix part |
| pmk | are there any other Dvorak users here? |
| shafto1 | reisio, its just a little hard to do using a console :) |
| reisio | shafto1: nonsense :p |
| quicoju_ | what does it mean when i get this warning: libtool: link: warning: `/usr/lib/gcc/i686-pc-linux-gnu/4.1.1/../../..//libgnome-2.la' seems to be moved |
| deface | husku - you need a compiler, to compile a compiler |
| elkid | is mp3123 out of portage? |
| husku | deface: yeah, so can i rsync needed stuff from another installation? |
| shafto1 | reisio, your like the gentoo god though wouldnt be hard for you :P |
| reisio | elkid: mpg123 ? no |
| dhumphreys | elkid: i think its mpg321 or mpg123 |
| reisio | shafto1: it's just reading and typing |
| deface | husku - could, but i wouldn't try it |
| elkid | reisio: ya that its in portage |
| shafto1 | reisio, if i type # links http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-x86.xml in the console can i view the documentation? |
| sly007 | deface: isn't there anything I can't configue in /etc/conf.d/rc? I dont want udev to load any modules |
| deface | quicoju_ - http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gcc-upgrading.xml |
| husku | deface: why not? |
| reisio | elkid: hrmmm? shafto1: yes |
| VanessaE | got a question... just installed gentoo on husband's box, everything is up to date, and now I'm installing the various apps he'll be using. He uses K3B (and by extension, KDE), but if I include both on the command line, emerge complains that kdebase-3.5* and kdesu-3.5* are blocking each other. |
| shafto1 | reisio, thats okay then :) |
| deface | sly007 - read the udev rules, and dunno .. possibly |
| reisio | shafto1: yes :p |
| deface | husku .. cause im not lazy |
| elkid | sorry this white background in my term... |
| reisio | VanessaE: did you update the system after installing? |
| coco_kid594 | deface will you beable to help me later? |
| elkid | cant see as well as should be |
| reisio | VanessaE: or go directly to installing KDE? |
| husku | deface: well, what would you do, besides rebooting from live ? |
| VanessaE | I updated first |
| x7 | VanessaE: try installing kde first then the kde apps on top |
| VanessaE | emerge --sync followed by the usual emerge -unD world. |
