qtothemaxaccording to http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_AIGLX it does support ATI. i went that route when i wanted to try out beryl since i didn't feel like dealing with overlays
mortideusqtothemax, it does support SOME ATIs, but others (Many of the new ones) arent supported
